Interests
Lemme see...this is a varied one.
I was raised a tomboy and enjoyed hunting since I can remember, and still do. I love guns and know a good deal about quite a few of them, though not nearly all of them. I even worked a few gun shows for a year.
I fish, but to be quite honest, even though I grew up doing this also, I always had a love to be IN THE WATER! This never left me, and still to this very instant, if I could find a way to live under the water, that is where I would be rather than to be here typing this to you all now. My love for being under the water was so great that while living in the desert of New Mexico, I managed to get my PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor status, and then went on to get a few more Specialty Instructor status'.
My mother is a lady and always has been, and did her best to play an influence on me, however, teaching me etiquette, and a love for frilly dresses. It paid off. I do love to dress up and go out to special places and for special occassions, however, I still find my favorite thing to do is to put on a pair of jeans, a Harley t-shirt and throw a leg over my 1997 Harley Dyna Wide-glide and ride WITHOUT a helmet!!!! Now THAT is Zen-like!
Have been to Sturgis a couple of times now, and the rides there are beautiful and want to go back, and would like to take a ride across our country on the bike, even though I know it would be an undertaking.
I love dogs (have 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgis), hate cats, will shoot a snake, and have 7 Sugar gliders.
Love art! Enjoy oil painting and sculpting, but in no way could I support myself, but I am proud to admit, I have sold some paintings in a gallery before. That was years ago, however, and I am not able to work on it daily like I used to be able to because of my current work schedule and day to day life demands.
Oh well.
Music
Ahh....music! Give it to me daily!!! I love it and in just about every form...jazz, blues, rock, classical, yeah, just about everything except rap and twangy bluegrass or some of that old time gospel (not that I object to the message being passed.)
My favorite artists: Sarah McLachlan, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, B.B. King, Enya, and so many more. I have an Ipod just brimming with my fav tunes.
I played clarinet in band in school and still have a sax that I tinker with around the house with some, though I don't see myself sitting in with Kenny G anytime soon.
I had a set of Pearl Export Drums that I'd gotten fairly decent with...good enough to get invited to join a band, but it clashed with my school schedule and being a single parent. As it turns out, I ended up selling them to buy some more scube equipment anyway. I suspect the neighbors in my apartment complex were secretly estatic over this move, though they never said anything.
Another love I have is probably partly due to my celtic background (Irish, with a tad bit of Welsh and Scot)...a love for the pipes. In 2001, I realized a life long dream, and took bagpipe lessons, much to the desmay of the local cats in the neighborhood. I was delighted to find out that I was better at this instrument than I was at any that I'd ever picked up and tried. Was it my heritage coming through? Who knew? Who also knew how expensive bagpipes were?!!! Sheeeeeezh!
Video Games
I've never really been into video games. I guess if I were ever going to be pressed to begin, it would have to be a wartime type with shooting and bombs. Bloodthirsty, perhaps?
