Day At The Beach

Saturday was a special day for me! It has been over six years since I last went to the beach and today, I decided to go for it! We headed to Hollywood Beach and to the Broadwalk. My mom and I left the house around 2pm and started on our drive. The night before, Lisa and I had made a list of topics mom and I could discuss in the car. The whole way there, my heart was completely in my throat! I wasn't nervous at all, but I was anxious so I did my best to keep talking. As we got closer, I asked how far we were and mom mentioned we were only 10 minutes from there so I kept on talking. When we got to be about five minutes from the beach, I took a couple of pictures. Our first stop was to the Marriott hotel that my mom and grandmother stayed at for a few days over the summer. It was really pretty! We just drove up to it and parked in a temporary spot near by so I could head to the beach (just a few feet away). I had brought a container with me to snag some sand so I could always remember my trip. I made sure to grab that and my camera before running to the beach. I went first thing and walked on the sand and took a picture of a Lifeguard stand and of the beach, itself. Then, I realized the water wasn't that far from me, so I MADE SURE to go and put my feet in. I knew if I was this close to the water I had to be sure I put my feet in! I asked someone near by to take my picture and the person was really nice to help me. I headed back to the car, stopping to pick up some sand. Mom had waited for me and then we headed around the neighborhood to try and find a better parking spot. With no open meters near by, we just decided to park in the Marriott's parking garage. We found a spot right away, right next to the booth to the self check out. It was literally 10 feet or so from the beach. We walked past the entrance to the hotel and hit the beach. First, we went to the water and I enjoyed walking around. It was cold, but not freezing so you definitely could go swimming if you wanted to. We spent about ten minutes walking through the sand and collecting shells. The day was beautiful! The sky was blue and there was a cool breeze out so it wasn't too hot. I wrote my name in the sand and made sure to take a picture for posterity. Mom and I headed back to the broadwalk, where I took some pictures of the Marriott and surrounding buildings. Mom suggested we eat lunch at the hotel, but I was not yet up for it. We found someone nearby to take a picture of us together and then we headed inside the hotel to look around. We headed inside through the restaurant and then looked around the lobby area. I stopped to buy a souvenir at the gift shop while mom went to the front desk to see if they had any post cards. I snagged myself a pretty purple anklet that had a cute lily on it (which somehow already came off and disappeared). We then headed back to the car and drove back to Weston. I had a great time and I am so glad I went! Ask me for pics!
