I am Dan Derricott, SU student Officer, elected in March 2008
THE ROLE:
SU Student Officers shall act in an advisory way to the committee and have voting rights regarding the Executive committee.
They will also sit on the Student Council and enjoy voting rights on the Council. Part time officers exist to represent the
general views of students to the executive, and to assist in the running of projects. Student Officers are encouraged to
bring their own issues and projects forward so as to better represent, inform, and campaign for students.
KEY AIMS THIS YEAR
- The development of a reformed Course Rep system that WORKS FOR THE STUDENTS;
- The development of Student Council;
- Continuous support of all students on all campuses
- Ensuring all Students’ Union Officers are accountable to the Students
- Developing our internal governance structures and project review systems
BIOG
Before being elected as a Student Officer, I was a Course Rep for level one Management students and was subsequently elected
as a Faculty Rep on the Union’s Student Council, which led to me become a Trustee. I also worked with Officers and staff
prior to his election on the Student Reps reform, which demonstrates how students can always get involved in the Unions work.

A blog with a twist; it is not written by somebody in their forties who has been on the scene for decades, this
is a business blog written by a young University student who dabbles in enterprise himself as well as in student politics.
