Crash and Burn

was about 11 and my neighbor had just bought an old Honda odyssey, If you dont know what that is it’s just a little one man dune buggy. Anyway we had found this jump where you could clear the dirt road almost. It was so much fun we had just taken turns jumping it and I decided to go and get my mom and show off for her. So as my mother stands on the front porch I come down the ditch to hit this 5 foot step up that was to propel me over the road. the step up was surrounded by trees and me being the knuckle head kid that I am decided to take it a little faster this time and I started up the jump the tires broke loose on the back sending it sideways off of the jump. My mom watched in horror and the front of the odyssey caught a tree sending it into a roll. It flipped a couple of times in the air before landing upside down and tumbling. My poor mother comes running out there just screaming and when she reached me I was just sitting there all buckled in laughing. Mom missed the hilarity of the situation and I got a little bit of a scolding before it turned into the "Eddie... why do you do things like this?" I did have another incident with my own odyssey later. I was about 17 and I had purchased an 85, 350 odysseys. It needed some work so I immediately take the motor out and got it over hauled. Bored 60 over and a high performance pipe on it. That thing would run 65+ MPH. But it made it cold blooded. (Yes this comes in handy here in a bit) We all went down to Mulvane to ride and while everyone else was unloading I fire it up and back it off of the trailer with out my harness on or a helmet. I go down the side of some rail road tracks and I go to whip a donut with it and it dies 1/2 way through and rolls. I am not wearing my belt like an idiot and it starts to throw me out of the cage. I grab the cage and try to hold myself inside and the odyssey rolls over on my hand. They weight around 5-6 hundred pounds. Ya ouch!!!! It split my hand open to the muscle from the knuckle on my index finger all of the way almost to the finger mail on my thumb. It folded the skin under so all you could see was the muscle. And Muscle is white as snow. SO I get up and am holding my hand and my brother and my girlfriend are coming at me and are yelling are you all right. My brother gets there first and I show him. He faints. Okay I am not doing that great at this point but I am calm and still coherent. My girlfriend reaches me and she faints. I am like holy shit. My buddy kip gets to me and said "let me see?" I said "hell no, someone has to take me to the hospital." We get into the truck and Kip misses the EMS station. I tell him to go back. I have lost a lot of blood at this point and I am starting to worry a little. They put me in the ambulance and it was like someone had just taken my picture. I saw all of these purple blotches and then more and more until it goes total black. I am still conscious but I can’t see. And now I am freaking out. Bad. They are trying to keep me cal and they get it done with some drugs. I wake up in the hospital and I got 42 stitches in my hand. I got out the same day. Why did it all go black you ask? SHOCK! I will be back with more of my war stories soon.Eddie
