..okay, I'm just bored actually. And the mumms need more drama. :P
But why is it that most Christians seem to hate liberals and "free thinkers"? I was raised as a Christian, and at all of my churches, it was always a good 98% Republican; once in my early teens I made the mistake of speaking about my Democratic beliefs while attending a Christian academy and was pulled aside and lectured on how Democrats (and Liberals to a greater extent) were polluting the world with secular beliefs, and basically "making it okay to denounce faith in the Lord.".
I was really young at the time, so I didn't really understand how that was true. Now that I'm older, I understand even less how that statement could be true; in the very first chapter of Genesis, god gives Adam a CHOICE whether or not to eat from the Trees of Knowledge and Eternal Life.
So isn't the promotion of free thought and the choice to do what one wishes in the pursuit of happiness (barring destroying the happiness of others) a fundamentally Christian idea? So why do most Christians I know persecute liberals? |
