"A Mother's Prayer" The alarm goes off, ready to go, all with no hesitation Time to save a soul or a home, straight to that destination This prayer’s for my son, as that fire calls Protecting the innocent and fighting flaming walls Guide him with your strength, the courage to pull him through Give him that breath of air, if he gets down to his last few By chance he may get weak; do give him the will to stand Carry him as you said, your” Foot Prints in the Sand” He will have to lift or ax a door today May your angels chip away, helping along the way There’s always the unknown, of what they call “back draft” Secure your arms around him, and the others who have his back Make way for him to listen, to hear that persons call If he gets blinded, give him sight, direct him down that hall Determined to break a window, to rescue that angry dog Or fight the wild fires, to keep lands beauty how it belongs Keep their team in motion, to know where one is at They’re taking turns in and out, of these fires that attack When that duty’s done, he’ll have peace of mind You were right beside him; he now thanks you for your time Lord I ask this of you, I pray you watch over him Help him always save the lives, then return him to me again. AS A NEW YEAR BEGINS....... Looking back on months gone by, As a new year starts and an old one ends... We contemplate what brought us joy, And we think of our loved ones and our friends.... Recal­ling all the happy times, Remembering how they enriched our lives We reflect upon who really counts, As the fresh and bright new year arrives. And when I ponder those who do, I immediately think of you. Thanks for being one of the reasons that~ I'll have a Happy New Year!

~~~~­~~~~THANKGIVING WISHES~~~~~~~~ Well it's finally here, or nearly! I am packing and getting ready to go see my son in Ft. Worth~ I will leave in the morning and I will get to spend the whole week with my baby! Yes..... (He is 21, but he will always be my baby!) Lol.. I haven't gotten to see him, since my Birthday in August! He is on shift at the firestation, and couldn't come home for Thanksgiving~ SO I am taking Thanksgiving to him! Like I said he is 21 , and I haven't ever spent one holiday without him, and I am not starting now! Lol.. For the last 17 years, I have always cooked Thanksgiving Dinner at my house, I still didn't get out of making 80 quarts of dressing, so I will be leaving some of it, for those left behind! Lol.... And transporting some to Ft. Worth~ It will defintley be a different Thanksgiving, without all of my family~ My mom has been in the hopsitol for most of this month, from complications from her breast cancer surgery~ Our plans were that she and my step~dad, would come down on Thursday, but now she will not be able to travel, once she is released , but she will be out in time for Thanksgiving here, ~ SO that is a Blessing~ I was torn on what to do, but my Mom solved that problem, real quick! Lol.... She couldn't stand the thought of her only grandson, being alone, during Thanksgiving week and missing out.. So she encouraged me to go on with the plans that had been made. Bless her heart she has been through so much and is so disappoitned, that she can't be there.. Hopefully she will begin to start healing and feeling better.. So please keep her in your prayers.. Porsche (my son's girlfriend) and I will be cooking the rest of the stuff at their house, she is so excited about her & I getting to cook, together! Lol.... There was never a time when I was that age, that I EVER got excited about cooking, with anyone! Lol... SO anyways..........Jus­t wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a very Blessed Thanksgiving filled with Lots Of Love, Laughter, Sunshine & most of all Family! Always~ Cathy

On the day of my first call as a rookie firefighter you would have been hard pressed to find a person more excited and happy about the direction his life was headed in, someone who looked forward to the days he was able to go back to the station. While I have always known that the fire service was where I belonged and I am still just a rookie the baby of my shift I never really thought about just how fast a persons decisions can change the course of many other lives. While the first fire I went on was nothing more than a small car fire caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette it was the next call that really made an impact on me. That call was for mutual aid on a major motor vehicle accident to help a neighboring department provide care to the occupants of a small car they were pinned inside. I dont know where the occupants of that small car were headed but I am sure when the three of them got in the car they never thought that that trip would end with only two of them surviving. The driver of this small car did nothing wrong he was driving the speed limit, he was wearing his seat belt and the other two occupants were properly restraind. The other vehicle was a large utility truck I dont know much about the driver except that he was unharmed in the accident and he made a mistake that all of us have been guilty of at one time or another and that was not paying attention to driving for a brief moment. During that brief moment he failed to stop at the intersection of a busy highway and didnt realize it until the small car made initial contact. The driver of that small car was driving with his wife and in the backseat was there three year daughter. The little girl was at the age where she had figured out how to wiggle her arm out out the buckled harness. I am only 21 years old but in the time I have been here on Earth and for the rest of my life I know that I will never hear a more horrible sound than that of a grown man screaming and being so overtaken by pain that he became ill. A pain that nobody will ever be able to take away but a pain that could have been avoided. The man and his wife survived but everyday of the rest of their lives will be forever changed. The little girl didn't make it to the hospital despite the best efforts of the medic who breathed for her the entire way there even though he knew in his heart she was gone when he got to her. As firefighters alot of times we meet people on the worst days of their lives and its our job to do our best to make things better for them but what can you do to help a person who just had life as they knew it crushed never to be the same again? The one thing we can all do is pay more attention to the road while driving instead of to the volume of the music, or the way our hair looks, or text messages. Your not only putting yourself in danger but even worse your putting innocent lives at risk.

Dear Friends~ Please keep My Mom in your prayers.. She was diagnoised with Breast Cancer, on Tuesday ~ July 29th.. She had had her mammogram, done a few weeks back, and it came back abnormal~ She was set up for a biopsy on the following Tuesday.. We went back to the doctor on Tuesday July 29th.. Where we got the news that every family dreads~ It was confirmed she had Breast Cancer~ She has seen the Chemo Doctor and is now waiting to see the Radioligist.. The Chemo doctor say she has the Evasive Ductal Carsinoma~ So she will now have to have a Bone Scan, Cat Scan & MRI, to insure, that it hasn't spread any where else.. Thank God, she has always, gone for Mammograms yearly and on time. (Unlike her daughter) SO it is the early stage~ So our Hopes are high and our Prayers are steadfast... Needless to say~ I am now sheduled for a Mammogram... I was once always real faithful too about having them done, until the last 3 years... But works just seems to get in the way of those things~ But not anymore... I was so convinced that is wasn't cancer, because no one on either side of the families has ever had Breast Cancer ~ So for the Women reading this~ Please~ Have your Mammogram done and done yearly~ I have promised My Mom~ I will from now on go every year and to go on time... For now my chances have increased.. So anyways ~ I may not have as much time to spend here~ But please always know~ I think about you~ and Miss you when I am not here..... Always~ Cathy

Just to let everyone know~ (Or anyone who may care) Lol... That I will be leaving for Ft.Worth in the morning~ My son is having surgery on Friday, on his shoulder , elbow & wrist. I, always told him to stay away from those dirt bikes! But dear ole Mom~ didn't know anything back then!! Lol...It's not a very good get~a~ way, but it still time away from work! Lol..... His girlfriends, mom and me are going together, and taking a detour thru Brownwood, to eat at Underwoods! That was his request for his last meal, before surgery! Plus my favorite place of all time to eat~ so he didn't have to twist my arm to awful hard! And to let you also know~ the Ft. Worth fire department has accepted his application, all he has to do now is pass his physical in August, and he wil be recruited to a fire department come January! He had about given up for this year, with all of the other applicants and his surgery and all~ SO say a prayer that all goes well for the surgery ^ that he heals really fast! He has 4 months so hopefully this will give him more incentive to do as the doctor, says~ We all know how macho the guys think they have to be! Lol....... So anyways, I will be on and off~ depends on how my laptop does! Lol....... It can be really slow and frustrating at times! So~ I hope everyone has a great weekend ahead~ XOXOXO Always~ Cathy
