IF I COULDIf I could just kiss you, but you have such a stare if I could just kiss you, but you’re eyes say beware If I could just hold you, so very tightif I could just hold you, whenever you’re in sightIf I could just touch you, to see if you careif I could just touch you, but do I dareyou stand there with that knowing smile on your faceI stand here looking so stupid, a total disgraceshe looks at me and makes her little coosI look at her and I’m afraid to make a moveIf I could think of the right words as she walks awayif I could only come up with something to make her stop and stayBut then she stopped and turned aroundwith a look that could have knocked me downI come to her and she takes me by my handshe looks me in the eyes and says StanIf you want to kiss me, you have to come nearIf you want to kiss me, my lips are right hereIf you want to hold me, don’t feel any alarmIf you want to hold me, just take me in your armsIf you want to touch me here and touch me thereif you want to touch me please be sincereshe leaned in her lips so soft and sweetshe leaned in and gave me chills from my head to my feetI held her close, so close to my chestif I could judge all my feeling, this was the bestI touched her skin so soft and tenderin my arms I could feel her body surrender our lips brushed lightly and I held her so tightly our lips came together hard with a force that was mightyIf I could, I know I would hold you like this forevereven though I know you have to go, I would leave you neverIf I could, I would kiss you, hold you, touch you for the rest of my lifebecause when you’re in my arms everything seems right.STANLEY HENDRIXFor more poems check out my blog
