I graduated from Evans High School near Augusta, Ga in June 1976. In July I went to work for Columbia Nitrogen Corp. a chemical plant in Augusta that manufactures fertilizer where I worked for ten yrs. I left there and went to work for BP Amoco Inc. another chemical plant here in Augusta that makes Hi-Performance Plastics used all over the world. I worked there until June of 2000 when I suffered a major stroke at home that left me disabled and unable to return to work. I now work hard on rehab trying to regain as much as I can in the left side of my body. I spend most of my time restoring my 88 Chevy Silverado Truck. I have transformed it into a Silverado SS which looks pretty sharp if do say so myself. I've put a lot of time and money into this truck and it shows.
My Dreams To someday fully recover from the stroke I suffered in 2000. Before I had my stroke I lived in an apartment in Augusta but I had to move back in with my parents when I got out of the hospital because I could not do anything for myself. I was in a wheelchair for two years. I had to be helped in and out of bed, had to be helped on and off the toilet, had to be wiped clean by my mother (thank God she is still here) I don't think I would have ever made it with out her help and support. She took me to all my therapy sessions and then to rehab after that for three years before I got well enough to start driving myself. I worked so hard to get to where I am now and it was very, very hard to do at times, but I knew if I did not work as hard as I could every time I went to therapy and rehab that I never would get any better, but I stuck with it and I still go three times a week to rehab just to make sure I don't loose what I've worked so hard to regain after my stroke. I walk with a cane to get around now. I use to love going out and partying with my friends every night I didn't have to work the next day and sometimes all night long. You might think that was what cause my stroke but it was an infection that got into my heart and started to grow to one of the valves in my heart and a piece of that infection broke off and went to my brain and blocked one of the small arteries up there. The medical term for it is ENDOCARDITIS. They had to do brain surgery to clean out the blockage. I use to wear my hair really long and when they did the surgery they had to shave my head and I don't look all that good with a shaved head believe me LOL. I didn't even know I had the infection and they said the only way they could have found it before the stroke was to be looking specifically for it. So it was going to happen sooner or later. It had me down and out for a long time but I didn't let it beat me. I'm still living with my parents because there is a lot that I still can't do, but I try to do everything I can.

I'm a NASCAR Junkie and NHRA DRAG RACING.I watch every race that is shown on TV. I use to go to as many as I could but since my stroke I don't make it to the tracks anymore. They are better on TV only becaue you get the instant replays from every angle possible. But its nothing like being at the track with the sounds and smells that make it so much fun. If you have never been to a NASCAR OR NHRA DRAG RACE you don't know what you're missing!
