When we surrender our active, analytical minds and allow ourselves to take in all that is around us, seen and unseen -- we no longer control the electricity that is in the air around us, we are giving the unseen around us and within us the freedom that we normally take for our own controlling purposes, or simply take for granted. Our surrondings take on a new life, weavings magic and mystery, these things unseen and unknown yet still there -- and perhaps even more influential than things we can see and understand.
So often we are taught to control and define, but what if we were to let our surroundings define and present their magical world to us?
"We sometimes catch a window
A glimpse of what's beyond;
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than I've dreamed about,
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained" -- Neil Peart "Mystic Rhythms"
Their have been a few moments when I've been under the sway of hallucinogens, and felt the transformational energies take hold of my conscious mind and send it to new and unexpected places. Having only indulged on a few occassions, they still seem mysterious to me. Things around appear different, sound different, feel different -- all the senses are formed into a new whole, or a new seperation of what was once whole.
Their are times also when a friendship or a mutual understanding between people can give flight to our imaginations; moments of harmony and a sharing of souls. These moments can perhaps be even more intense than moments under the spell of hallucinogens or mind altering substances, for so many variables exist in the realm of human interaction. Societal and self-imposed boundaries exist, yet when these boundaries and walls are allowed to crumble as sand beneath our feet, then a true insight and understanding can take place.
"From the moment I reached out to hold, I felt a sound,
And what touches our soul slowly moves as touch rebounds.
And to know that tempo will continue
Lost in trance of dances; as rhythm takes another turn.
As is my want, I only reach to look in your eyes." --- Jon Anderson "Relayer"
Chance encounters and new revelations brought to light between people can spark the fires of imagination, and our minds can take in experiences that have only been dreamed of; or experiences that have been felt before can be made fresh and new once more. We give of ourselves thereby allowing others to give of themselves, and the breath of life and creativity is shared.
And perhaps the unseen forces around us are delighted to witness the spectacle taking place, and give of themselves more freely as well.
s experiences and people move in and out of our lives, I reflect that to covet them and ask that they remain and always be there for us is a selfish response - a response that doesn't take into account the wishes of another.
In essence, they don’t need you, so why should you need them?
Yet the pain of losing someone can cut deep, and the fear of losing someone can lead one to drastic measures in a vain attempt to keep someone that doesn’t desire to be kept. But if we know that we have given of ourselves to the best of our ability - without regrets or hard feelings, than we can move on and keep the good memories while discarding the not-so-good ones.
Our bodies are temporary, the actions and works and words that we leave behind will live on even after our bodies turn to bone dust, as our stories are told and retold, and our creations are passed down through generations.
It’s common for people to question unconditional love, to advise those who practice it that they are opening themselves up for a world of hurt, and that others will take advantage of the kindness and generosity of a person who loves unconditionally.
But I reflect that this isn't true.
Returning to the first idea that I proposed in this journal, we can only open ourselves up to a long-term pain of loss if we covet and attempt to require those who wish to leave us to remain, even if it would be against their wishes to do so.
In the short term, pain will be felt - but in the long term, the pain will disappear as we realize that we've allowed the other person the freedom to be happy. And if we don't allow others the freedom to be happy, how can we ever say that we truly loved them?
Once we let go of our desire to hold on to something or someone that wishes to leave us, we can look forward to new experiences, and take the best of what we’ve learned in the past. For we’ve given someone else the freedom to move on, and have thus proven our unconditional love for them in the process.
describe yourself:
Just a simple guy, live
from day to day. A ray of sunshine melts my frown and blows my blues
away. There’s nothing more that I can say - but on a day like today
I’ll pass the time away and walk a quiet mile with you".
-- Led Zeppelin

The wild west has already been won

Disappear without a trace

It don’t worry ’bout where it’s going, no, no.
Don’t fly, mister blue bird, I’m just walking down the road,
Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know
You’re my blue sky, you’re my sunny day.

Your view on Life:
"I’ve read confusing fiction.
And lived a contradiction.
And I’ve wondered where on earth I’ve been.
I’ve known a love forever.
A Truth I couldn’t sever.
A chord that flows a free as wind.
I’ve
stood on the mountain and drank from the fountain and poured it all out
on the floor. Turned my back to the glory and walked the tenth story
and came back to knock on your door.
On...my life going by .... my life going on ... my life going by."
-- King’s X
Love
"Love’s not a product you can hoard or pack a suitcase with,
It’s more a way you have to give."

"So
anytime somebody needs you, don’t let them down, although it grieves
you, .Some day you’ll need someone like they do, looking for what you
knew."
Mmm, I’m telling you now, The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who’s blue now, It’s very easy just..."
-- Led Zeppelin
War
"Listen,
should we fight forever? Knowing as we do know fear destroys?Listen,
should we leave our children? Listen, our lives stare in silence; Help
us now.

Death:
"Seasons don’t fear the reaper, nor do the wind or the sun or the rain,we can be like they are"
-Blue Oyster Cult
God :
Large fingers pushing paint.
You’re God and you’ve got big hands.
Colors blend; The challenges you give man.
Seek my part, devote myself.
My small self. Like a book amongst the many on a shelf.
Sometimes I know, sometimes I rise.
Sometimes I fall, sometimes I don’t.
Sometimes I cringe, sometimes I live
Sometimes I walk, sometimes I kneel
Sometimes I speak of nothing at all.
Sometimes I reach to myself, dear God.
-- Pearl Jam

Send whips of opinion down my back, give me more!" -- Jeff Buckley

And all the war freaks die off, leavin’ us alone.
We’ll raise our children in the peaceful way we can,
It’s up to you and me brother
To try and try again.
" --- the Allman Brothers Band
Your last words?
"Sleep with the sun, with the ocean washing over me"
-The Moody Blues
