The following is from the book Bliss to You by Trixie Koontz, dog as told to Dean Koontz. While reading I found this and thought it was just a great passage:
"Your purpose might be to die to save others or to protect their rights, meaning rights way more important than right to pick nose in private.
Humans die for others every day.
Is our responsibilty to honor them.
They are the best of humanity.
Of all animals, only dogs die to save human life. Never saw cow jump into lake to tow drowning boy to shore. Never saw hamster chase off armed burglar. Only dog. Is one reason man and dog have bond.
We are gaurdians of each other.
We share a destiny.
Is many traits we share, too. Humans and dogs are only creatures that love play throughout life. Both crave affection. Value loyalty. See mystery in world. Get excited by Frisbee."
