As a Veteran

As a veteran, I write these words with the most heartfelt sorrow. I am very concerned with the state that this country is in. We are at war but not for the reasons most people would like to believe. Our troops are dying daily, but not for the reasons they signed up for. You see when I enlisted I took an oath to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC. Now you may ask why DOMESTIC is in caps, I'll get to that shortly. All members that serve in government take this oath, even the President. And yet the President has placed the biggest attack on the constitution that has ever been seen. This has taken place through the "Patriot Act" and as of 2006, the less popular "Military Commissions Act". These "laws" take away most of your freedoms and most people don't even realize it. You can look on youtube and find examples of people being arrested for reading the constitution. And yet most people would like to sit at home thinking that the goverment is going to take care of everything. Now on to DOMESTIC. What does this mean? Well it must mean not foreign but within our own country. In November of 2005 George W. Bush was quoted as saying "the constition is just a god damn piece of paper". Now in my research I havn't been able to find any arguments proving or even trying to prove that he didn't say it. You might ask "What are you trying to say, the President is a DOMESTIC threat?" My answer is YES! We were lied to 3 times about why this war was started. In the past good americans would have stood up (of which there are still many just not enough) and taken a stand against this war. Our troops are over there fighting for oil and a place in the middle east. In Iraq and in the entire middle east there is no threat to the constitution or our way of life. I am tired of seeing our troops and my friends die in a pointless war with no defined enemy. This is dedicated to my friend, Lance Corporal Jonothon Grant, who died serving in Iraq when his vehicle hit an IED.
