Music
(deep breath) i listen to/think about/give my opinion on music professionally, so...
THE SHORT ANSWER: i get down equally to BRITPOP - GLAM ROCK - OLD punk rock - acid house/electro-house/mnml techno - old goth shit - GOOD HIP HOP - mash-ups - new wave - no wave - dark wave... and other illlll ish.
very few people understand this! don't even bother trying to pigeonhole my tastes. closing your ears based on subcultural limits is for the insecure. what i like doesn't dictate how i look AND VICE VERSA. deal!
my all time favorites for varying reasons include david bowie, t-rex (and tyrannosaurus rex), new york dolls/johnny thunders/heartbreakers, DEAD BOYS, big star, elliott smith, the ramones, the buzzcocks, the damned, the rolling stones, the church!!, joy division/NEW ORDER, erasure, the pet shop boys, the stone roses, the happy mondays, the field mice, the smiths, pulp, blur, jesus & mary chain - ok basically most brit rock bands 1980-mid90s i <3 britpop, THIS MORTAL COIL, velvet underground, the waterboys, wolfsheim, wire, and the beatles' 'abbey road.' i also like GRAM PARSONS and the gun club a whole lot. and all the native tongues-DAISY age-early 90s-etc type hip hop groups... yeah...
