Hello All...
Just a quick note from yet another internet cafe. Ken and I are in downtown London waiting to meet Charles for dinner. We spent a few hours tooling around. Seeing the sites...being tourist basically. So anyway, got a few secs to kill before we feed our faces at some fancy smancy eatery. Of course I didn't come to the U.K. or NYC for that matter with "dress clothes" I brought clothes for recording an album, and looking like a poor musician. Pretty sure I'm gonna stand out hardcore tonight. Ken said no worries...he said I'm just wearing the uniform that goes with my new job, and people will just have to deal. I kinda like that way of thinking. Big F-U to the world...thats rock n' roll isn't it? (Those who know me can start laughing now)
Whatever...all I know is that the album is sounding amazing, and I am working my butt off on these vocals. Not only do I sing these songs several times each session, but I have several sessions just to see if I can beat the last go round. Make any sense at all? If not, just know that it is crazy stuff...and a ton of work. But again, this is my job now, and you won't here me complain. I've thought a lot about how lucky I am the past week. I try very hard not to take a single day for granted. I've been truly blessed.
So anyway, back to the album. I've been trying to think of some adjectives to describe how it is sounding. I remember posting awhile back that it feels a bit "heavier". I can't say that that is still true...but maybe it is. This album is "emotionally heavy"... all that this band has experienced getting to this point and now living this point is in this album. The emotions are out of control. Don't expect to have your faces rocked off as much as your hearts torn out...that is the plan anyway...for you to feel theses songs as much as we do. May take a sec. to adjust to everything, but I can tell you that this is as real and honest as we can get. No worries about "are we heavy enough to do this show"..."are we too pop?" "Are we too rock? " Everything has been..."what does this song need...what emotions need to be felt?" Everyone has made huge contributions to this record. It is very much a Small Town Sleeper Record. I know that may sound funny, but in the past we've never really had time as a band to add each persons "special flavor". This go round we have the time.
Well, that is enough babble. Gotta get off, and as usual, no time to spell check. Deal with it right? I'm a friggin "Rock Star" not an editor. O.k. so maybe I'm just stupid. We will go with that.
Madd Luv,
-T
Fun fact...the bridge in Fergie's video for "London Bridge" is not "London Bridge"...go figure.
