The polish smoothed wood contained a golden tinted plate that spelled out the word family. Beneath the shiny plate was a glass square that contained a picture of the two brightest things in my life. My mother had silky blond hair that beamed as bright as the sun as it was caught by the flash of an old camera. A wrinkled grey t-shirt clung to her body but more important then that, at this point in here life she was actually wearing a smile.
In the passenger seat a noticeably older lady sat hunched over with short brown hair and a low dipping v-neck pink shirt. Her presence alone was rhythmic and soothing to my mother’s soul. The woman in the passenger seat was my grandma before she had passed away. In fact, she was my hero. She had a whooping big smile and her eyes were wide as the galaxy as she stuck her tongue out of her mouth posing for the picture that would later sit in the dusty frame with few fingerprints on my bookshelf.
This frame would mean more then a captured memory to me. This frame would contain a melodious time before my whole world would transverse into a nightmare with an alcoholic mother who couldn’t get past more then a couple of years before taking up drugs. This picture frame became a frame time in my life. All of the time and memories and happiness were in this frame before her cancerous death and now rather then her it seems like my mother is a walking cancer. A cancer that couldn’t be diagnosed because it settled deep within her loathing heart. And as we all know things that are silent can still be deadly.
From time to time I pick up this frame of time and indelible memories. It seems I always pick it up the same way and use precaution. There is one visible thumb print where all of the dust is gone and this always brings the realization to me that no matter what happens there is always room for a clean start somewhere.
Today's blog is from a fresh location.
The very bench outside my apartment.
As I sit here and ponder my next adventure in life I also take in the lives around me. That and the adult's perceptions of how my youth is living and the course we are taking during our lives.
It's true that things have changed and as humans and technology advance I believe their values and morals morph into something new as well.
I'ts not that my generation has an attitude of we don't care or we are going to do what we want.
We just choose to live more free spirited and let any oppertunity knock at the door. It's rather refreshing actually. Myself and a lot of the peers I know and am fond of are very open minded and willing to try anything once. Of course, being mature, I must keep in mind that anything involves a lot of negative things. (such as drugs, alcohol and sex)
I'm not entirely sure if the way my generation behaves seems inappropriate or interesting. From my point of view it seems like we are all ready for any leap of change into the unknown. (this can be a good trait you know)
So I guess I wonder how you view this generation of teenagers? Immature or adventerous? Open minded or idiotic? Of course, I am not one to generalize either so please keep in mind that I am not stereotyping or catoragarizing today's youth by any means. But in the general sense of statistics and such I have to be curious as to how you feel about today's youth.
I personally believe that if someone experiences more then another person then they must be more wise. (Even if some of them experiences seem inappropriate or unjustified)
Everyone feels bad for the man who wonders what could have been.
What about the man who has to deal with what has been?
(This is a perspective that is really looked upon)
I believe I heard it on the television :)
I felt this would be an appropriate moment to throw it in!
There are approximetly 35252666432.9 different types of people in this world. (Not literally of course) I'm going to take a closer look at two types because it causes controversy and confussion. People who primarely use logic and those who primarely make decisions based on their current emotions.
I am personality type INTJ. I am more of a logical person. I do not feel comfortable in emotionally involved situations or environments. I find it troublesome to comfort or understand why someone is feeling the way they do about a certain tragedy or event that has recently occured. I prefer technology and nice items over emotional relationships. I don't mind spending a majority of my time alone and I love reading and learning more about the field of psychology. (All in all they call the INTJ personality type a 'scientist'.) I am always eager to get to a solution rather then knowing why I had to take the steps I did to achieve my purpose.
A vast majority of people, however, prefer to make their decisions based on what will make them feel the best for the time being. For instance if someone had the choice to move to somewhere they have always wanted to or stay with someone they recently fell completely in love with the logical choice would be to move because relationships don't usually last. But an emotional person would be most likely to stay because they love spending their time with their new companion and such. (They would possibly even assume they can't imagine being seperated from them and 'couldn't live without them', figuratively speaking)
In many cases an emotional person may find a logically bound person to be 'insensitive', 'rude', or 'selfish', when infact, that is not always the case. If you take a look from the logical perspective though, we tend to look at emotional people as 'whiners' or 'annoying'. Both of these types of people have difficulty understanding how the other can live the way they do. (It especially takes extra effort in a relationship if one of the subjects is logical and the other emotional, as you can imagine.)
If you'd like to get your personality type visit the following URL and click on the test on the left:

After you have taken the 72 yes or no questions quiz and find out your 'personality type'
proceed to the following URL to read about your personality type: (this should describe you)

**for instance if your personality turned out to be ENTJ. you would turn the url into

If you have any questions or feedback Id love to hear it! Are you the more LOGICAL or EMOTIONAL type of person? (just whatever you think you are; leave it in a comment!)

Apparently Abraham Lincoln decided that there is one god for our nation. Or as patcondell from youtube suggests Abraham believed that 'one size fits all' or in this case rather, 'one god fits all'. Obviously, if that was the case A.L. was mistaken.
It is rather interesting that Abraham often made refrences to God and/or quoted the bible during his speeches. Well, thats not the interesting part. The part that boggles me is that he never officaly joined a church. It is also noted that he wrote a manuscript that challenged christianity but a good friend burned the material to protect Lincoln. (Though a piece of information like that would be difficult to verify as you can imagine.) And to top it off, the existance of this manuscrapt was challenged by Mentor Graham, an alleged eyewitness.
"...I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord's side." The Inner Life of Abraham Lincoln: Six Months at the White House by Francis B. Carpenter (Lincoln, Nebraska, University of Nebraska Press, 1995), p. 282. Also, Recollections of Abraham Lincoln by Ward Hill Lamon (Lincoln, Nebraska, University of Nebraska Press, 1994), p. 91.
"...that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863.
I must wonder how much of an influence A.L. contributed to the fact that, really, our government is based on religion.
A youtube video actually inspired me to write this blog.

(That is just the user, not that video itself, though if you would like to watch the video it is titled God The Psycho)
And please do not take this as any form of disrespect or crudness to any religous readers. I mean no harm. I am however interested in what everyones take on this is.
