Lady Arwen's blog: "My blog"

A Memorial day Poem called... What is so Sad I know I don't know what its like to be and nor do I ever think I will know what it is like to be in a war zone, but I have friends and family that do. So please do not leave rude comments asking me how do I know what it is like if I have never been there. Like I said I am going on what I have seen and heard. I take this poem very seriously. Thank-You What is So Sad What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, Its so hard for them to explain, We sit at home watching our movies, Sit-coms, or whatever we want to watch on our sets, While they may be lucky to use the net, We get to play video games, Ones about jumping, hiding and War, Meanwhile they die everyday, Whether it is in mind, body or spirit, The War they are in is no game, They cannot turn on and off like so many of us can, What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, We do not realize how much fighting they do day in and day out just to stay alive, So they can read the next letter which can take forever for them to get, Some have good news, some have bad news, Some have recent photos of friends and families and some dont, Some may get a care package or two with goodies they share, What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, Just for them to make the next call home some may have to stand in line for hours on end just to hear the voices of their, Mothers and Fathers Brothers and Sisters, Wives and husbands , And Children too, Just to hear the words Hello and I love you, What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, When they hear they are going home they rejoice only for a minute and rush to pack, As they rush they hear the news they have to stay for another month or two, What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, They get their final orders, This time its real, They are on the plane homeward bound, As they sit and wait on that plane so much is going on, Their emotions are running high, They are filled with so many tears, fears, and cheers, The tears are for the ones who have fallen some for the ones they know will be left behind and soon to arrive, What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, Their fears are the fears of not knowing what to expect, Not knowing if they earned respect, Not knowing about the journey ahead, Not knowing if the loved ones they left behind just a year ago will be there to hug and kiss as their plane lands, What is so sad, We dont know the pain of it all, As they arrive at their final destination they hear the cheers, Not just from each other and loved ones, There is also an inner cheer from their hearts and souls, The Soldier is Finally Home, And What is so ironic, Only The Soldier Knows the True Joy of it All. Dedicated to: Nathan Nakis, Brian Kirchner, and Brian Dooley And to All of those who have fallen and to those who are lost in battle in this War And in many others. Written By: Tyna Christine Kirchner May 29th of 2006 Memorial Day.
