A House of Cards . . .
Walls fortified by the echoes of yesterdays
Making it harder to tear down in many ways
Its many rooms hold painful memories
Untold secrets buried so the world doesn't see . . .
. . . the past lives on for me . . .
The House of Pain . . .
The anguished cries ~ the tears of a child
So many scars that she's tried in vain to hide
Docile and timid ~ ever quiet and shy
A voice unheard . . .a silent cry . . .
. . . from childhood lost. . .
The House of Darkness . . .
Innocence lost and shattered dreams
The façade of a family not all they seem
Unheard prayers whispered nightly to the moon
In one of many darkened rooms . . .
. . . that haunts my dreams . . .
The House that Was
A structure that is no longer there
Like an echo of footsteps on a carpeted stair
The walls have crumbled to mere dust and grime
As I let go of the memories from that time . . .
. . . Never really a HOME for me. . .
