Fuck the expense... The bastards (both sides, conservative and liberal) are too busy covering their own asses. The war is unpopular, so those who support it, or did support it, are afraid to invest any more in it... money, equipment, troops, whatever... because they're afraid they won't get re-elected.
The future of Iraq concerns me. The war is being fought poorly because of the politics. Politicians are too busy arguing over it to do what is required to achieve victory. If we leave, we may as well fly Bin Laden to Baghdad and make sure he's setup nice and comfy in one of the palaces because Iraq will be come a terrorist nation-state.
Parachutes eh? I was a sailor myself, but was west coast, so I've never been to Europe... Love to go sometime. You Brits should reopen the Tower and put these guys involved in the recent bombings there. lol
Americans would never be comfortable with a significant military presence here. At least not with armed soldiers at the grocery store, the mall, the airports, etc. I think it would remind some people too much of the National Guard being used to quell Vietnam protests.
