It seems to me that there is a fundamental question which underlies all personal philosophy and it comes down to whether to believe that people are essential cooperative or competitive. Were I to profess any faith, it would not be in a supreme being - I am not that psychotic - but in my brothers' and sisters' fundamental goodness and would stem from the knowledge that, though they are separate from me in many ways, they are the foundation of my strength for it is they that raise me back up when I fall.
