When three explorers, led by headstrong Merrick O'Brian, embark on their final expedition together, they hire American columnist Elizabeth Sparks to dictate their remarkable adventure. They set out for Mount Elbrus but are pushed off track and stumble into an amazing place filled with wonder at every corner. Merrick is quick to proclaim the discovery in his name, but the proclamation is in vain. They are quickly captured by Montavians, peculiar looking men with pointed ears and bows and arrows, who lead them into the mysterious world of Montavia.
Though Elizabeth becomes friends with the Montavians, the explorers' unexpected presence creates fear and unease in surrounding cities who have struggled to keep peace for years. Jealousy and betrayal are soon exposed and begin a dramatic chain of events that culminate with Elizabeth surrending her freedom to save the lives of innocent woman and children.
In prison, Elizabeth makes an unlikely friend, Teekie, the half brother of villainous Lord Zellore. The friendship proves beneficial when he helps her escape only to later betray her. Then, when Lord Zellore strikes another innocent city, demanding the life of Elizabeth, a battle for freedom explodes as Lord Krea, king of Montavia, joins forces with the surrounding cities to stop Lord Zellore once and for all.
As the battle unfolds, Turner keeps readers in suspense to find out who comes out victorious. When the on the battlefield settles, Elizabeth will be faced with a heart-wrenching decision that she will remember for the rest of her life.
The twist and turns that arise in every corner will keep the reader guessing what is going to happen next, says Turner. The Legend of Montavia can be enjoyed by young teens to adults and readers will "find themselves in a magical world where anything is possible" Turner says.
Born in 1975, Turner grew up in a small town. Over the last 12 years, she has written poems, some of which were published in several anthologies, The Legend of Montavia is her first novel
