The mind shaking brainstorm for the idea that has become 3X7 (three ex seven) originated in Western Kansas in a little town called WaKeeney and is now being felt in ever growing distances from that epicenter. The early explosion in 2001 may have only been felt by a few, but ask those who felt it and they will tell you that it changed them forever. In the years since then, perspectives have changed along with some of the people that make up the band, but the ideals of the music are still very much defined by intelligent and enlightening lyrics, creative and dramatic music, and an attitude that changing the world is always possible.

The band’s only release to date, Changing The Odds, was recorded in early 2005 in under a month in the band’s studio with very little understanding of the workings of semi-professional recording. Currently the band is focusing on recording new songs and updating some of the songs from Changing The Odds to get a higher quality sound for your listening pleasure.

The band consists of four 19 – 23 year olds: James Dean Hobbs (Vocals, Guitar), Paul Kaiser (Bass), Kenny Zahn (Lead Guitar)Zach Bizzell (Drums). For almost a year now, 3X7 has been playing with that line up and has been winning fans from the area at live shows and from all over the place through the internet. The band recently played in and made it to the second round in the nation wide battle of the bands put on by Bodog.com. 3X7 is keeping busy by playing shows in the Western Kansas area and as soon as recording is finished the band will be spreading their musical concepts to the Denver, Omaha and Kansas City areas and then the world.

With songs about using your mind to conquer any problem (You Can Fly), the power of sharing knowledge (Gravity), the harm that can be done by hindering critical thinking through abuse of drugs and alcohol (Danger of A Dream), and the need to change the way the world thinks (Anything & Everything), 3X7 is really trying to make human kind understand how we can all be better about using knowledge and critical thinking to our ultimate advantage. A couple new songs are on the way and they will continue to teach these ideals as you can see from the titles. The Thinker is a song about how a person can pay attention to the way they think in order to make their thinking more effective and efficient, and To Better Memories is all about how understanding the reasons the past felt like better times can help us understand how to make the future even better. Experience gives knowledge, knowledge is intelligence, and intelligence gives wisdom. We write songs to give the mind a puzzle, something worth figuring out, so in the end you feel smarter about knowing yourself and your surroundings.
