I'm not cool or hip, let alone rad; not even my mother could find it within herself to tell me such a lie. Happily, I never wanted to be and sure don't want to start trying now. I grew up as a nerdy kid too stubborn to try to fit in and have grown into an adult of (ahem) a "certain age" who is pretty happy with himself and the choices he has made. I prefer the complex difficulties that come from being who I am, to the difficult complexities that would arise were I to pretend to be a person I am not.I have a decent job (that I like). I live and work in Toronto. I am single, an aspiring writer (ask me about my website!), ride a bicycle year-round and I live with a cat.I read a lot and seldom watch television. I am an atheist, a non-doctrinaire left-winger, a feminist (of sorts) and environmentalist. I am interested in the arts, in science and philosophy, politics. I live in the moment but am conscious of the future.In other words, if you live to shop or party, if "reality television" occupies most of your waking hours, you'll find me dull and pretentious; if your aspirations are focused solely on the white picket-fence in suburbia, you'll think I'm too Bohemian; if you plan on spending your life couch-surfing, too bourgeois.(None of which is to say, if you're looking for nothing but some short-term fun, that we couldn't have a great deal of that together. I am not looking for a mere fling, but I haven't locked that door, either.)The preceding paragraphs have probably chased away a good half of those who started reading. Now let's drain the pool a little more, shall we?I'm short (5'6" or 5'7" - opinions vary), I'm balding, I smoke (I'm going to quit - again - soon) and I could stand to lose 15 pounds. (Though, please note: I've never had a cavity.) I am in better shape than my nasty habits and advancing years make likely, but if you require a six-pack as a pillow, you won't find it here.All right, who's left? Let's narrow the field some more (did I mention I'm willing to mix my metaphors?).I indulge in alcohol and TCH and (very) occasionally in psychedelics. I lend no more credence to astrology or a Universal Consciousness than I do to Animism, Santa Claus or the God of Moses, Mohamed and Christ. I am politically-minded and don't believe Capitalism and liberal democracy are even close to being the end-point of human social evolution.Finally, physical - chemistry, if you will - attraction is important to me. I don't discriminate on colour or "race", but I've never been attracted to a woman significantly heavier than the equivalent of 5'5" and 150 pounds. Just as I have tried men a few times, I have tried BBWs, and in neither case was my libido aroused. It's not a happy truth, but it is my truth and I have to live with it.For those few of you who might still be reading, a few words about what I am looking for and why you should want to get to know me.* You're probably younger than I am. Though I've been involved with women as much as 8 years older and 22 years younger than I, I've come closest to connubial happiness at the younger end of the scale;* You're smart, you like yourself, and you don't kowtow to received wisdom. You stand up for your beliefs (but will change your mind when evidence warrants);* You're scrupulously honest, and courageous enough to tell me unpleasant truths when necessary;* You have a strong sex-drive and are open to experimentation.
