hmm, lets see.... i was born in houston, grew up in richardson, texas then went into the navy for some reason which i cannot recall at the moment and am now living in silverdale washington with my wife and pets that drive me crazy. im a more reserved kinda guy until people get to know me and then i loosen up a little. i have no patience for people who are dishonest and who cant seem to take hints but i try to remain courteous even to people i think should go nosedive into a cess pit. anyone who tries to push their beliefs on me with no respect for my own are automatically on my shitlist and i will send the god Loki after them without hesitation. yes i am pagean so deal with it or fuck off. other than that im a pretty genial guy. oh and im a dork.
ironically enough:
These are the Nine Noble Virtues. basically the tenents by which an Asatruer is to lead his life. i try to incorporate these into my life everyday (this is alot haeder than it sounds and so far i end up failing at hitting all nine points everyday but i am getting better.)
COURAGE The bravery to do what is right at all times.
The coward believes he will live forever
If he holds back in the battle,
But in old age he shall have no peace
Though spears have spared his limbs.
(Havamal: 16)
TRUTH The willingness to be honest and say what one knows to be true and right.
To ask well, to answer rightly,
Are the marks of a wise man:
Men must speak of men's deeds,
What happens may not be hidden.
(Havamal: 28)
HONOR The feeling of inner value and worth from which one knows that one is noble of being, and the desire to show respect for this quality when it is found in others.
With a good woman, if you wish to enjoy
Her words and her good will,
Pledge her fairly and be faithful to it:
Enjoy the good you are given.
(Havamal: 130)
FIDELITY The will to be loyal to one's Gods and Goddesses, to one's folk, and to one's self.
A man should be loyal through life to friends,
To them and to friends of theirs,
But never shall a man make offer
Of friendship to his foes.
(Havamal: 43)
Hospitality Be hospitable to others, and guests; especially those far from home.
The generous and bold have the best lives,
Are seldom beset by cares,
But the base man sees bogies everywhere
And the miser pines for presents.
(Havamal: 48)
DISCIPLINE The willingness to be hard on one's self first, then if need be with others.
(Couldn't find a fitting Havamal stanza)
INDUSTRIOUSNESS The willingness to work hard and remain in motion.
Early shall he rise who rules few servants,
And set to work at once:
Much is lost by the late sleeper,
Wealth is won by the swift.
(Havamal: 59)
FREEDOM Self-reliance is The spirit of independence.
A small hut of one's own is better,
A man is his master at home:
A couple of goats and a corded roof
Still are better than begging.
(Havamal: 36)
PERSEVERANCE each time we fail we recognize failure for what it is. If the purpose is true and good, we persevere until success is won.
I know a third: in the thick of battle,
If my need be great enough,
It will blunt the edges of enemy swords,
Their weapons will make no wounds.
(Havamal: 148)
