Welcome to Fat Boy Bulldogges! We are a small breeder of olde english bulldogges (or alternative bulldogges)located in Northwest Louisiana dedicated to producing dogges that have the perfect mix of temperment, personality, and stunning good looks. We are currently only offering stud service, but thanks to Kings River Bulldogges we now have the ideal female and are hoping to offer puppies next Spring!.We believe that dogges should not be bred for money or fun. There are too many unwanted pets in shelters as it is. Please choose a responsible breeder, and do your research on the breed before deciding it is the right one for you. Our philosophy is simple: to produce outstanding dogges, you must start with oustanding dogges. All of our dogges being considered for breeding will come from established bloodlines known for health and temperment. We are in no rush to produce puppies, and we are very willing to wait for ideal dogges to pair. If we don't have what we need to produce an OUTSTANDING litter, we won't...period.Feel free to browse the site, and e-mail us with any questions you might have about the breed! We love to talk with other bully owners, and those hoping to add one of these wonderful dogges to their home.We try to attend as many WBA and CKC sanctioned conformation events a year as our schedule will allow. Its great fun for the dogges, as well as us! If you see us out there, come over and say hello!

What is an Olde English Bulldogge? (Disclaimer: the following statements are intended to reflect our personal experiences with Olde English Bulldogges, as well as the stories and experiences shared by other breeders and owners. Like any dog, socialization is key! Please do not take this to be any type of breed standard, as each registry has its own opinion on temperment.) While no breed of dog is perfect for everyone, I feel confident in stating that the Olde English is suitable for ALMOST everyone. They are fiercely protective of their families, yet have a mellow enough temperment to withstand the often boisterous attentions of small children and toddlers. They are fast to learn and enjoy new things and stimulation. They are sometimes mislabeled as "stupid" or "stubborn," when in reality they're just smart! "Why should I sit a dozen times in a row?" your bulldogge wonders "Didn't I prove I could do it the first two times?" Though we personally do not have livestock, I have read stories of other owners and their big-hearted dogges...dogges who were never bred to be the protectors of sheep or cattle doing just that job, and helping to herd them from pasture to pen as if by instinct. The Olde English Bulldogge is less stocky than its relative, the English Bulldogge. They're naturally muscular, and require very little in the way of exercise to stay this way. This in itself makes it a more suitable dog for people who live in the warmer climes. Though our dogge loves the air conditioning, he also tolerates the muggy Louisiana heat which is something an English Bulldog ( who have been known to heat stroke and die at temps as low as 82f) would have a difficult time doing. Owners of Olde English are also less likely( note that I'm stressing the LESS) to encounter expensive medical problems such as cherry eye, crippling hip dysplasia, and major skin and sinus problems. You don't need a Rottweiler or a Doberman to feel safe in your home, either. The Olde English Bulldogge is a smaller alternative that does well in an apartment or smaller house, yet has the intimidating looks and sound to deter intruders. Feel safe knowing that they have the bite to back up the bark should push come to shove and the assailant not back off! Of course, proper socialization is crucial for any puppy. The more positive experinces he encounters in the first few months of life, the better adjusted he'll be as an adult. Never set your pup up to fail! Instead expose him to friendly dogs of both sexes, children and cats...in the end it will pay off with a dog of outstanding temperment. Unless you're going to be home alot with your new bulldogge puppy, I do recommend some basic obedience classes. Like any dog, they will attempt to get away with whatever they can--be it pulling while walking on a leash, or giving you those "puppy eyes" when climbing onto your new sofa. If you let them do it once...chances are good that you'll be letting them do it for as long as you own your dogge! In conclusion, these are wonderful, smart dogges. The breed comes in all shapes and sizes, from short and stocky to long and lean. They are weight pull champions, agility experts, schutzhund competitors, home protectors, guardians of children and livestock, and happy couch potatoes. They are, indeed, an all-around breed.
Idols
Our story is similar to that of many other breeders and owners alike. We loved the bully good looks and size of the AKC English Bulldog, but were disappointed when research led us to believe that their myriad of health problems was going to lead us to a dog not suited for our lifestyle. Living in a warmer climate, we were concerned with its ability to weather heat and cold, or to tolerate humidity. We had to go back to square one again, and found several sites about Olde English Bulldogges, or "alternative bulldogges" as they are sometimes called. We were pleased to see that they still looked bully and muscular, yet were a more athletic, FREE BREATHING dog. They could be bred without the need for artificial insemination, and the dams could whelp freely without the need for sometimes dangerous C-sections. One of the first things we noticed about these dogges was the differences in the looks from kennel to kennel. One of the many joys of this breed is that they come in all shapes and sizes. Some people will tell you that this is a bad thing, but we see it as a positive aspect! Those interested in personal protection or weight pull are able to find larger, more muscular dogges. Families living in an apartment or house with only a small backyard are equally as likely to find a smaller dogge to fit in with their lifestyle. Its a wonderful thing! Our personal preference is for dogges on the smaller side. By smaller I'm speaking of height, not muscle. The dogge should appear muscular and athletic, as if it had been "lifiting weights," so to speak. We prefer to see dogges with longer muzzles (3" is ideal for us) This longer muzzle give the dogge an advantage when it comes to breathing. Our other key will be the depth of the chest. A wide chested dog, full through the brisket has more room for his lungs, and thus is better able to work or play without breathing difficulties. This is what we will be breeding for. Our Philosphy We fully intend to only produce dogges of exceptional health, temperment and form. Our females will never be expected to produce more than one litter of puppies a year for us, and she will be given AT LEAST two heat cycles to recover between puppies. If we don't have the dogges we need to produce extraordinary pups, we wont breed. Period. Dogges are not moneymakers, and they are not a business. The only reason to breed your dogge is if you are going to be bettering the breed by doing it! We do offer stud service, and we are choosy about the females our male is allowed to cover. Expect a lot of questions! We're not only going to want to know all about your dogge, but all about you, too! We want all of our puppies to have "forever" homes. We will be choosy about whom we sell to. This is for your protection as well as ours. We understand that sometimes life gets a little crazy, and thats why we retain first right of refusal on any pup. Any puppy sold as "pet quality" will be sold with a spay/neuter contract. Any adult dogge that we choose to rehome will be spayed or neutered first. Our dogges are not to be sold or given away without you contacting us first. None of our puppies will ever knowingly end up in a shelter! We encourage owners of bully breeds to compete in events with your dogge. Be it agility or obedience trials, its good for your dogge, good for you, and good for the breed! We will be here for you for the life of your dogge to answer questions or give advice. Owning one of our pups makes you part of the family, and we love knowing how our puppies are doing and seeing pictures of them in their new homes! Please feel free to contact us about any questions you might have. If we don't know the answer, we will do our best to find out for you.
