A thought about our mother tongue: America was founded by the British, but unfortunately (for the Britain's) they tried to increase taxes for a war over seas and "Americans" rebelled in the cause of "life, liberty and land." This notion started the American melting pot philosophy of allowing oppressed foreigners into America which made it the way it is today. If it wasn't for that open door policy to foreigners, many of us wouldn't be a part of this great country. Think of your heritage; mine is British, neither would be here without that open door policy...neither speaking "English" either. We should embrace open doors. We should embrace change. We should embrace those oppressed free thinkers and hope they further advancement of society.
Having said all of that, I actually believe that American-English will be the language of the world. Mainly because of the open style. We can make up words, put them in any order and with different inflections make one word mean many different things. That allows for us free thinkers to expand our minds and invent creative solutions to problems. Japan has a similar style with their alphabet, thus making them another world leader in advancement of society, but I think their language still stifles them at times due to the Chinese origins which are very rigid.
