I have been a middle school teacher for 23 years. I teach middle school Spanish in Tacoma WA.
On September 15th, during my morning class of 27 students, what I believe to be a .22 caliber bullet was shot thru my classroom window. Nobody was hurt.
I immediatly called for administrative support, explaining that someone had shot something thru my window. 15 minutes later the vice principal showed up, looked at the window and then left. The principal never bothered to show up to investigate the incident. The cops were never called, nor was there a lock down ordered.
One month later, (the window still hadn't been replaced) I decided that all the bull shit of education had taken its toll on me and I went out on medical leave of absence. The psychiatrist diagnosed me has suffering from moderate to severe depression and anxiety caused by the incident.
We reported the incident to the Tacoma News Tribune. They investigated it. The principal told the reporter that nothing was done because they weren't sure it was a gun shot or a rock that broke the window. Please feel free to look at the hole yourself in my photos. The hole is large enough for a pencil to go thru.
I would like you to send a comment to me indicating whether or not you think it was a rock or a gunshot.
In the meantime I sit at home collecting disability pay. I don't plan to ever go back to that school, the one I was at for 18 years.
