Welcome to my Blog. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. . . NEVER DULL!!

It. Is. So. FRUSTRATING BEING OVERWEIGHT!

Let's Get to Know Each Other a Little Better First: My name is Wendell.  I'm an American living overseas in  Bavaria Germany.  Once was a soldier, I am retired from the United States Army and am currently employed by the Department of Defense in Europe. I'm diabetic! This is a real hard disease and it's very nasty to coexist

Over-51 Today 5th July 2011 I start walking for the Lessons Learned. I walk for the Miles Accumulated. I walks because I'm able. I walk to do good for my body & soul. That's my Story. What's Yours? Start you own journey to eat healthy. Start Today.

What are You Waiting For?  No More Excuses…

When I left the U.S. Army, I was mad, force to retire early and I became a bitter person and food was my best friends. I gain  about 130 pound, weight in @ 350Lbs.

Tell me who your friend, and I will tell you how far you will go in life. Nothing in life is a given. It is a personal decision to choose health. Choose passion. Choose happiness.

I understand that fitness is an individual responsibility and I understand the importance of staying healthy and controlling your weight.  However, I had an illness in the U. S. Army and the chain of command did not respect and understand that I had a medical condition.

Pigeons have been good to me in my life.  I have come to know some of the nicest people from around the world through the sport.  I start this sport when, I was living in Bronx, just for fun. But in 1992, I saw a flock of pigeon racing and decide to start the sport here in Germany.

I was diagnosed with Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis.  The army doctor term, but in the pigeon world it called Pigeon Fanciers lungs disease. It is an allergic reaction, which affects the air exchanging parts of the lung, and causes shortness of breath, cough and feverish illness. There are two distinct but overlapping phases of EAA, "acute" and "chronic". The acute phase is the most common in pigeon fanciers. Typically sufferers experience intense flu-like symptoms of fever, chills, muscle ache, cough and/or breathlessness four to eight hours after high-level exposure to pigeons. If detected and appropriate measures taken early enough, acute PFL is reversible. If not detected or ignored the acute phase may be followed by the chronic phase, which is, characterized by a type of irreversible lung damage the doctors call "pulmonary fibrosis". This is very serious and in extreme cases may be fatal.

Weight control is about attitude, commitment and controlling emotions. When issues affect you mentally and emotionally, it truly drains your soul. I have since learned that depression affects the entire body.  A person can become paralyzed, stop functioning and lose perspective.  You may not understand, because it is impossible to adequately convey the magnitude of the feelings that are occurring within me.

Things I accomplish, when I was severing.

12th January 1990 A Battery 4 Battalion 3rd Air Defense Artillery, Noncommissioned Officer Evaluation Report, Period Covered: From 89/01 to 89/12 Physical Fitness & Military Bearing: Score of 300 APFT

It taking me years to realize that me slacking off for a week always leads to slacking off for months. Tracking food and fitness works wonders…I’m not slacking this time.

Let's Walk! Let's Get Walking

Let's get walking. Our goal is to be able to walk for 20 minutes or more, 5 or more days per week.
