As a sweeping generalization, I see the Republicans and the Democrats differing in the light of where they want to interfere in your life. They either want to control the private realm or the public realm.
Democrats want to leave your private life (Right to Choose, right to marry who you want, right to live as you wish) alone, allowing you to make your own decisions. They want to control the public realm, or how financial instutions operate, Environmental considerations, freedom of religion, how to see to the welfare of the people (not talking of welfare cheats, but of the very young, seniors, disabled.)
Republicans on the other hand, seem to want to control the private realm in essence peering into your bedrooms and interfering with your personal choices; and take a hands off approach to the public realm, removing regulatory requirements on business, industry and financial markets, imposing their religious views on the law of the land.
Do you agree or disagree on the accuracy of this assessment.
