Hello everyone....
This is a sudden update to say that someone I personally knew got killed in a car accident. I didn't have a direct relationship with her, but she was my dad's best friend's daughter, Haley, who was only 14. For the past couple years, she got involved with a church and became very active with special events and activities with her youth group. On the way back from Las Vegas, a driver who was driving a trailer lost control of his vehicle, driving on the opposite side of the road, causing a head-on collision with the same van Haley was riding in, taking out her boyfriend and some of her friends as well as her.
Haley became a pretty close friend of my younger brother, who was about her age, and they had a good friendship since they were both born. I'm very worried about how much it's going to affect him, but I haven't gotten a chance to talk to him yet, as I heard the bad news late at night.
Although I haven't seen her that often over the years, it's hard to believe that this actually happened. Too hard. She was a smart and well-behaved girl, who was not out looking for trouble the same night it happened. She was just involved in a productive lifestyle.
Talks about funeral arrangements are going around. The service will be held next Thursday. If I'm able to go, this would be the very first funeral I would've ever gone to.
