First blog ever. I have been on fu for several years now, and have met some interesting people(good and bad). Well, this morning I got up at 4am to get ready so I could go serve the homeless breakfast here in Phoenix, AZ. What an amazing time. The need is so much. We served about 100 people breakfast and that included families with kids. I have a "Socks to the Street" ministry and I gave out about 150 pairs of brand new socks. It was a time to really see how bad people are hurting here in Phoenix. I'm sure it is like this all over the USA. If you ever want to donate new socks, let me know. I'll tell you where you can send them. It really does make a difference in peoples lives.

Summer Time
I have had a pretty amazing summer so far. The first week of June, my boyfriend, our other long time friend and I went camping up at Waldo Canyon. We did the 2 to 3 hour hike into the site, with camping gear on our backs, toting all of our food, and water, etc. We had fun times, hiking up the stream to find water, as the stream was completely dry at our site. We filtered out the water we did find, so that we were able to drink it. Our friend that we brought did nothing but talk on his cell phone to his mommy, every five minutes to report what we had just done. He sang old 80's tunes by Journey and Survivor. Puke. However it was still pretty fun. The last night, (we stayed two nights) we heard something walking around in our camp site. We were so scared, it felt like the Blair Witch Project. But now we realize that it might have been a bear. We ended up leaving that very morning, hiking back the 2 to 3 hour trip.

Whats Going On
Here is a little update on why I haven't been around much. I took a job with a company that I worked with for a short time and have been staying in a hotel in Bristol, VA. I am working 7 days a week and have been here at the hotel almost 2 weeks. I work from midnight until I finish my deliveries. Normally back to my room a little after 9am. I haven't had a day off in over 3 weeks. Since I have been here my father has ben in the hospital and I lost my grandmother(last grand parent) so it's been really hard being away. The pay is great and I make a little more staying here rather than driving down each night plus it saves 4 hours travel time round trip so that helps a little. This Summer
HUGSSSSSSSSSSSS to all my family and friends. It's been a very long summer filled with in and out of the hospital visits and spending time with Dyani and family. I wont get into the hospital trips to much, I will say a couple of surgeries and a lot complications involved. I was emotionally down and drained from it all for most of the summer but feeling better and have been trying to make the most of the time off with Dyani before she starts back to school. I am sorry I haven't stayed in touch more but I did not take my computer or phone with me to the hospital and when I was home most of the time I was not up to anything but getting rest and trying to get back to normal, or at least my version of normal...lol. Still Scared About My Brain Surgery
i am afarid im gonna die in my brain surgery this next 2 weeks (whenever its scheduled) 24th or 31st. I realize that when they put me under, it may be the last time im alive. I have to go to a phsyical rehab to learn to talk and walk again afterwards (after im discharged from hosp). I will spend 4-5 days in ICU then 4 days or so on the medical floor. Scared About My Surgery
I am having major sugery on the 24th or the 31st. All my doctors are talking w/each other before the surgery. Its brain surgery. I have a tumor that keeps growing and causing me horrendous headaches. I already had problems w/having headaches but these headaches are killer!!!! Make me wish i was dead when they hit they are just simply that bad. They dont know if its a cancerous tumor or not, but i guess i'll find out soon after surgery. Doc says i will be in ICU for 4-5 days and 4 more days on a regular floor. They dont want me to only rely on IV pain meds. But oral as well, cuz i wont have IVs when i go to the phsycial rehab i have to go to afterwards to recover. Hurricane Irene was apparantly "only" a tropical storm by the time it hit us in Connecticut. Here in southeastern CT, we didn't get too much damage. No damage to my home; just a couple of trees down. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of damage to the local power and phone lines, and we didn't have phone service until yesterday, and power until earlier today. Thanks to our generator we did have running cold water and enough power to run our fridge. But I don't mind saying that I look forward to having a HOT shower tomorrow! LOL! i will say this. While you would expect it to take a certain amount of time for power to be restored after a hurricane, I have to commend CL&P for their incredible incompetence when it came to having enough workers to help fix all the expected problems from a major storm that we knew was coming for several days. I guess I am sort of in recovery of sorts. I don't drink that much anymore, partying sort of lost the fun back in the 80's I guess. I still like to catch a good college football game on a bigscreen tv with a cold brew, but it isn't the same thing as partying like a rock star. Of course, the darts are good no matter where they are...just look out when they start to fly!!! Anyhow, this is a great site so far, at least for me. It seems to give me a good alternative to getting ready just to go down to the local bar and spend a few hours. My Life Has Begun

Everybody with a little age on them remembers September 11, 2001. It is etched in our memories and should be forever. It is a part of our history like the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor or the day Oswald shot JFK. You will always be able to remember what you were doing when you first heard the news.

In Memory Of...
September 11th 2001 was a sad day indeed. On the anniversary of this tragic day, my thoughts are not with the American troops currently serving in hostile territory overseas...even though my oldest nephew is among the U.S. Marines currently in Afghanistan. My thoughts go to the people who lost their lives. My thoughts are with the families left behind. My thoughts are with those who risked, and in many cases gave, their lives that day so that someone else may live. I don't view 9/11 as a day America suffered. I view it as a day that all of humanity suffered a great loss. It wasn't just Americans who died that day. It wasn't just American children who lost a mother and/or father. 10 Years ago I missed being in the tragedy of 9-11 by 1 day, i was visiting my parents in PA and flew back home to FL on 9-10-01. I am thankful that my son who was only 9 months old at the time and I were home safe when I saw the events unfolding on tv. I thank god everyday for my son being alive.

The horror of blimpsLast week while travelling I stopped at a Zany Brainy store and saw that they had a blimp for sale. It's called Airship Earth, and it's a great big balloon with a map of the Earth on it, and two propellors hanging from the bottom. You blow up the balloon with helium put batteries in it, and you have a radio controll indoor blimp. I'd seen these things for sale in Sharper Image catalogs for $60-$75. At Zany Brainy it was on clearance for $15. What a deal! Last night my wife was playing tennis and it was just my daughter and I at home. I bought a small helium tank from a party store, and last night we put the blimp together. Let me tell you, it's quite a blimp. It's huge. The balloon has like a 3 ft diameter.We blew it up with the tank attacched the gondola with the propellors, and put in batteries. Then we balanced the blimp for neutral bouyancy with this putty that came with it, so it hangs in the air by itself neither rising nor falling.
