LONELY NIGHTS Staring into the darkness, As sleep escapes once more. I climb out of my lonely bed, And silently pace the floor. Trying not to think of you, But it happens every time. Just when I try to forget for a while, You go drifting across my mind. The thoughts of you are never far, Your memory lingers there. In every song I hear your name, Your face is everywhere. The sound of your voice rings in my ears, I feel the touch of your hand. I feel you pulling me close in your arms, I'm trying to understand. How did I come to love you so? How can I make this love die? I just can't do the impossible, I don't even want to try. So I crawl back into my lonely bed, And wipe away my tears. I look back on the happy times, To help drive away my fears. If all I have are dreams of you, Then I'll guard them like a treasure. For every thought I have of you, Can only bring me pleasure. I pull my pillow closer, Pretend it's you by my side; Then drift away in dreams of you, Into this lonely night.

posting this poem to my daughter as she just had a baby boy on Aug 16/2007 . . . BABY BOY . . . All the dreams you ever dreamed, About a baby boy; Are wrapped up in this bundle of blue, Who gives you so much joy. So quickly he will start to grow, And time will fly so fast. Just hold tight to his little hand, And make each moment last. With busy hands and dirty face; Frogs & marbles & puppies in tow, Running from place to place. Right now he's fresh from Heaven, A gift for you to love. A tiny, sleeping, bundle of blue, Sent from the Father above.

I see you in the morning, When the sun glows through the haze; As the beauty of a thousand lights, Bring forth a newborn day. In the fragrance of a tender flower, Touched and kissed by morning dew; When its petals spread to seek the sun, It is there that I see you. As I look on the horizon, See an eagle take to flight; In all its strength and beauty, I see you in the sky. I can hear you in the silence, Of a summer's afternoon; As soft warm breeze sweeps over me, Your quietness fills my room. I can smell you in the distant rain, As it falls to kiss the ground; The clean and earthy smell of you, Its fragrance does surround. Then as the sun falls softly, And night breeze fills the air; As stars come twinkling from the sky, I see your beauty there.
