I figured since it's hot outside why not attend a movie? Let me state I'm not into CGI* heavily laden movies, read - The Transformers. I was too old for transformers when they came out in the 80's ,so i have no warm fuzzy feeling watching it..ie being taken back to my youth (or yout for you cousin vinny fans). Secondly the producers throw so much crap on the screen at once to dazzle you, all the while covering up the fact that the plot stinks and the dialog was probably written on the fly. Plus I secretly pine for the day where Shia's character get's crushed by a morphing dump truck, but I digress.

I also dislike low brow humor,ie, the hangover. I like my humor a bit more cerebral (I also like cereal).
Any recommendations (using my 2 filters - ie - no relying on cgi to make up for dialog written on napkin during shooting? OR a humorous movie that doesn't rely on dick jokes.
Let me add that I do have netflix and I wouldn't be opposed to stay in and watching something (via streaming). I do like independent films, documentaries,foreign,sci fi (as long as it's NOT the tripe that's shown on the sy fi channel (or whatever they call them selves this week). A mindless (or legless) horror film is acceptable as well. |
