Roush Racing Driver Diary: Mark Martin Thursday, November 9, 2006 Hello everyone, Well, I think that if we didn't have bad luck, we might would have no luck at all. It's kind of crazy the way things have happened the last few weeks. This week we continued with our bad luck, getting caught up in a wreck with Tony Raines just a few minutes before the final Cup practice was about to end. We had to go to a backup car and as you might have noticed, with no practice at all, we weren't in very good shape on Sunday for the race. Still, the important thing is that nobody on the AAA team gave up. We fought with that thing all day and although we never were really good, we were able to fight and survive our way to a 22nd place finish. In cases like that, it's the effort that is really more important than the result, although I will say that the result could have been a lot worse. We have a championship level team on the No. 6 and the guys have gone out and shown that, time and time again. We can't control what happened to us at Charlotte or Martinsville or Atlanta or even Sunday at Texas. Sometimes those are the cards that you are given and you play them the best that you can. That's what we did at Texas and we just didn't have the best hand. We were able to get the most out of it though and I'm proud of that. I give Pat Tryson and the guys an A + for effort. As for the championship, that's not how I wish things would have turned out either, but that's the way it goes. We've had some good cars and we had good finishes at Kansas and at Talladega and we were very fast at Lowe's and I think we even took the points lead there, before it all went down hill. Still, I'm proud of the effort and what these guys have done and I'm proud to have all of you behind me and that truly does mean as much as any trophy ever could. The weekend wasn't a complete loss, however. We were able to win the pole and get a top-five in the Busch car. That is the last time we'll run the Busch car this year, but I am happy that I'll have the opportunity to work with Mike Beam and that team a couple more times this year in the Truck series at Phoenix and Homestead. That really is a great race team and it's always a blast to drive for those guys. Speaking of Phoenix, we'll go back there this weekend, where we were really fast in the spring. Hopefully we can take up where we left there and finish the job and pick us up a win this weekend for all of you guys out there. I know it's been a rough few weeks, but I do want to make sure that each of you know just how much I appreciate all of your continued support.
