Where are all the writers?

One of the reasons I got onto LC was to find other writers. Most of the other web sites out there are great for getting exposure, but terrible for just meeting writers. Others are good for getting criticism, but after reading some of their work I'd wonder if they were following their own advice. So, here I am at LC, having a pretty good time ... but slightly distressed as the 'core interests' does not contain writing. Why not? This would include authors, bloggers, poets, tech writers - anyone who writes for a living, or wants to write for a living, or simply, habitually writes. I've been browsing about and have found TWO writers so far. Two. Either LC is lacking in this department, or there's a lot of closet word-geeks out there, or (most likely) it's just damn hard to find them. I mean, I have to look at their profile and see if they actually call themselves a 'writer', or something in that vein. Guess I'll keep looking. C'mon LC, scribes need love, too.

Short Post

It's raining, and when it rains my access at home drops into the bit-bucket, so I'm at an Internet cafe during my lunch hour. At least having little to no connectivity will let me get some writing done. It will also keep me off LC for the evening - what an addictive joint this has turned out to be. Jeez. Anyway, off to finish my sandwich and head back to work. Ciao.
Up kinda late. I'm suffering from serious writer's block - I haven't been able to produce a damn thing all day in the way of an article. I already know what to write for Britannia!, but that will take a little research and some screenshots. For AC, I haven't a clue. I started a piece on Halloween, but since I'm not a kid anymore the list of reasons why I like the holiday seem to be getting rather short. I like little kids in costumes at the door. I like cheesy monster movies (LOTS of them on the TV in the next weeks). I like the haunted decor you can plaster your room with. I thought about touching on the dark stuff inside us all, the 'inner' reason we all like Halloween. Meh, it's been done to death (pardon the pun). I'll think on it.

Yeah, I'm Home, So What?

Due to circumstances beyond my control (no, I'm not suddenly unemployed), I'm home today. I didn't really want to be, but the network at the office is having a seizure on some major level, so here I am. That's sort of OK, since I did want to get some writing done and I haven't had a chance to do any. I need to figure out what my next piece for Britannia! is going to be, and I absotively posilutely have to have something up on AC, today. I also need to start work on another blog, which I'll use as a marketing device for my writing. I'll post a link when that's finished, though it may be a day or three.

You scored as Neo, the "One". Neo is the computer hacker-turned-Messiah of the Matrix. He leads a small group of human rebels against the technology that controls them. Neo doubts his ability to lead but doesn't want to disappoint his friends. His goal is for a world where all men know the Truth and are free from the bonds of the Matrix.

It's All About The Skin

OK, so I farted around with the CSS and made a background image ... ta-da, new skin. I do believe, after browsing around this place for a while, I have one of the fastest loading profiles on LC. :) That HAS to be worth something. Which brings me to my next quandry. Here at LC there is a large and sundry assortment of good looking women, and ... well, I have a girlfriend. Who also happens to be a good looker IMHO, as well as 800-odd miles away while at university. Sucks for me. She also looks in on this thing from time to time, I imagine. So, I can't very well run about leaving compliments on other women's profiles without incurring some level of wrath upon my person. Let's be realistic. Guess I'll have to keep lurking. :) I managed to find a writer, dontcha know. 'Deena' has a book on the market, and I work not two blocks from a Barnes & Noble. Swing by my profile and give her a click, wouldja?
Prof. Stephen Hawking is making a new movie - an IMAX movie. If that doesn't make you all giddy inside ... well, maybe you're just not geeky enough. Here's a link. See if that doesn't help. If it doesn't, well, you can't say I didn't try. Screw it, I ain't writing anything serious tonight. Just not in the mood. I do have outlines drawn up for the next three articles however, and I promise I'll start on those tomorrow evening. Tonight, I'm going to hang out in LC for a while, see what else there is to tweak and maybe meet some new people. Then, play some UO, and go to bed at the end of it all. Work tomorrow. Ugh.
Right. I have a ton of crap to do today, and I can't get it done sitting here. Must get groceries. Priority one. My fridge is SO lonely, and I must fill it with goodness like ice cream, hamburger (making a lasagna later) and other errata for the tummy. Then, I must get some writing done. I haven't come up with anything for AC in days, plus I'm due for something up at Britannia!. I also have to post on the personal bloggage, so as to include linkage to this joint. Then, some time with the guinea pig, and on the phone with the GF, and maybe some housework. Big fun, eh? Sure. This place needs to put 'writer' in the interest catagory. I'll shoot that up later.

Right. Now, on to business.

OK, so I'm happy for the moment. Now I can get to the meat of this whole exploration into setting up a Cherry account and such. I intend to hunt this place for two types of people: (1) folks who write, and (2) folks who are just nice peeps and have more than a smattering of clues about how to go about getting someone's attention. Here's a grand example. See my friend list over there? There's a friend on it. 'heygabe' actually took the time to say HI without posting some obnoxious pictures of sparkly unicorns or wistful whatevers. Well, actually, she did try to do that, but crafty me, I shut that crap off. So, she came back and said hello, actually said hello. This proves she's smarter than most, and probably nicer than most. So, she got added as a friend. See, I'm not a stick in the mud after all. :) Now, you try it. If you're stuck for something to say, well, just think for a minute and then type whatever you like. I'll even visit your profile and blog or whathaveyou. Just show me you can do something besides ctl-v some code into the comment box. C'mon, I know you can do it.

Hello, World

OK, first blog post here. Hey's it's better than MySpaz already. :) Although, I'm already annoyed. One of my hobbies is web design, and things that scroll off the side of my browser make me want to start choking the crap out of someone. (You have your pet peeves, I have mine.) Hopefully, I can find a way to remedy that. Otherwise, unless this joint is hopping with script kiddies and sploiters, I've gotten a bazillion '10' ratings and messages from users here already - which is cool and all, except I got the ratings before I even finished filling out the profile; it don't take much to please some folks, apparantly. Still, not all of you are bots, so for those who come here in flesh-and-blood form, a houdy-back-atcha. Now, let me get back to finishing this thing, willya?
