I will apologize before hand for the length of this mum. If you don't want to invest your time...get out now. So I'm 25, and my parents are both passed away. I am a sophmore in college, and I am paying out of state tuition. (F'ing Colorado makes it impossible to get in-state tuition, I've lived here 2 years.) My husband and I just got married this last May. Prior to our wedding I was getting not only student loans, but a grant as well. Now that I'm married, I must be rich because my financial aid has dropped off by 4 grand, and we can no longer afford to pay for my school. Is this fair? That a non-traditional student with no parental aid is forced to pay more just because she happens to be married? Since when does marriage equal money? Yes, I'm ranting, but I just don't understand why "the system", lol, makes it impossible for anyone who does not have loads of money to begin with to make any in the future!!! I suppose if I was a single mother of four that I would have all the aid I needed. Maybe I should just get divorced and then have a bunch of kids for the sole purpose of receiving govt. aid. Does anyone else out there thing that there's something majorly f*cked up about this??? |
