there's a"chat me" button on the top left of everyone's profile, or when you hover their pic or name you get their"tool tip" which includes a chat. both send the discussion to the top middle box. some users require an approved salute (a pic of you holding something with your username and user id written on it to prove you're a real person) before you can chat them.

first, you'll want to check your settings to make sure your homepage style is"power", that will add people scrolling across the top of the screen and open up more people to meet.then, on their profile, under their main picture there are several buttons including the"add as friend" button. like all other social sites, this will send them a request to approve or deny.some people want you to rate/fan before they'll add you. the way to rate is to click the cherries under their pic (kind of an unspoken rule is to rate everyone at least a 10 unless you want them mad at you). and the fan button is a little further down from the add button, but you have to be level 3 to be able to use it. after rating some pages and pics you really could hit level 3 in no time.
