Probably the most important thing to know about me-- because it has impacted my life so greatly, is that I was recently widowed. I lost the love of my life (my LOML) the cancer on Easter Sunday. He died just 6 months and 11 days after the doctors confirmed his diagnosis.
He fought bravely, entering two clinical trials and enduring Radiation Therapy- all, he said, because he knew every day that he fought was one more day he could spend with me.
Life without him is not much fun. We had a very rare relationship. People who'd never met us would remark about how wonderful we were together. We shared a generosity of spirit that only few are blessed to know. It is a struggle to continue with the hopes and dreams that we shared, but I promised him that I wouldn't let his death destroy me. I spend time daily with my kids and grandbabies, I am active in our church, I'm renovating one of the bathrooms in our old Victorian home, and I am in Grad School finishing my Master's in Nursing.
I am trying to establish a new normal for myself without him, but still miss him in everything I do. My faith keeps me strong because knowing he is with the Lord gives me a goal to continue to strive for so that I may see him and more importantly our Lord one day.
I decided to add this poem because it says a lot about who I am and what I believe -- I want people to know what I'm about.

Now, for those of you who are still reading this and are interested in making friends with a really nice lady who is bright, loves people and enjoys laughing at herself as much as she does laughing with friends... you've come to a good place!
Please finish looking over my page, look at my pics, read my stuff.. listen to my music... then add me as a friend.
************************************************************
This part of my message is specifically for the kiddies who think that everyone is on here to hook up----

I'm not looking to just hook up ... so please stop sending stupid messages about your penis... I don't care about your penis... I've been a nurse for many many years... I've seen thousands of them and one more won't impress me.

If you think your penis is all you have to offer someone you're in serious trouble as a person... and will probably only get to use your penis for self-gratification.

Try spending your time working on your personality, your education or your stroke... but don't waste any more of your time sending me messages inviting me to come and look at your penis.. I'm so not interested.

Interests
I think the main thing that I should tell you about myself is that I was recently widowed. On April 16,2006 the Love of My Life (my LOML) passed away after a 6 month battle with Metastatic Melanoma- a really ugly type of cancer. He and I were closer than most couples ever dream of being. People who'd never seen us before would see us together and remark on how incredible we were together. Losing him has left such an incredible void in my life... nothing I do has the same meaning, and everything reminds me of the love we shared.
But, I promised him that I would not let his passing destroy me, so I am doing everything I possibly can to keep that promise.
I stay busy renovating our old Victorian home, I spend time with our children and grandchildren daily, I'm busy with various ministries at church, and of course Grad School.

General Interest... Hhhhmmm... Reading.. love Dean Kooniz books (and Trixie Koontz too!) I garden, I write, I paint, I love doing anything outdoors, I guess I shouldn't say 'anything' because I'm not into extreme sports. I do like to take walks by the river and the mountains here in Colorado soothe my soul.
I spend a lot of time with my kids and grandbabies. Grandbabies ROCK! You can love on them and spoil them and when they get tired and cranky you can tell the parents "Here ya go!" :)

I'm also in grad school... working on my MSN. It is a lot of hard work, but before he died,I promised my LONL that I'd complete my degree, so I am doing it.

After I complete the degree my plan is to become a Nurse Educator. I've been a Nurse for many years, and feel that it is time for me to pass the baton to the next generation. I've taught Nursing as an Adjunct Instructor, and i absolutely LOVE teaching! To me, it is incredibly exciting to work with the students to learn what they need to know to care for their patients, and then to get to be there when they have their "AHA! Moment" is a huge thrill.

I've never been a huge fan of Tupac... never really sat and listened I guess... but when I read this today, it really suited my mood.

I Believe
READ THIS SLOWLY - IT'S A KEEPER FOR SURE. THERE ARE
SO MANY TRUTHS IN IT.

I believe-

That we don't have to change friends if we
understand that friends change.

I believe-

That no matter how good a friend is, they're
going to hurt you every once in a while and you
must forgive them for that.

I believe-

That true friendship continues to grow, even
over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe-

That you can do something in an instant that
will give you heartache for life.

I believe-

That it's taking me a long time to become the
person I want to be.

I believe-

That you should always leave loved ones with
loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe-

That you can keep going long after you can't.

I believe-

That we are responsible for what we do, no
matter how we feel.

I believe-

That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe-

That regardless of how hot and steamy a
relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had
better be something else to take its place.

I believe-

That heroes are the people who do what has to be
done when it needs to be done, regardless of the
consequences.

I believe-

That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe-

That my best friend and I can do anything or
nothing and have the best time.

I believe-

That sometimes the people you expect to kick you
when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe-

That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be
angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe-

That just because someone doesn't love you the way you
want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I believe-

That maturity has more to do with what types of
experiences you've had and what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe-

That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by
others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe-

That no matter how bad your heart is broken the
world doesn't stop for your grief.

I believe-

That our background and circumstances may have
influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we
become.

I believe-

That just because two people argue, it doesn't
mean they don't love each other. And just because they
don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe-

That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a
secret. It could change your life forever.

I believe-

That two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.

I believe-

That your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe-

That even when you think you have no more to
give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the
strength to help.

I believe-

That credentials on the wall do not make you a
decent human being.

I believe-

That the people you care about most in life are
taken from you too soon.

Idols
I don't know of any human I'd consider to be an idol. The one being I consider an I dol would be My Savior. My faith in Him is strong, and is what has kept me going for many years, especially the past six months.

People I Admire:

My Pastor Charlene, who positively GLOWS with the presence of the Holy Spirit in all that she does. She definitely walks the walk, and her grace and strength have helped me through many rough times the past year. She was here for me and my family in so many ways during my husband's illness. She was reading and singing to him the day he died, she held my hand and asked the Lord to give us strength as we followed the horse-drawn hearse through the cemetery, and continues to support and encourage me as I heal, and encourages me daily in my own walk of faith.

There are many other people in my life whom I admire, for many reasons. Some for their leadership, some for their teamwork, some for their support, some for their laughter, some for their artistic abilities, and some just because they are. The common thread of these people is that they are open with who they are and in sharing unique aspects of themselves so that others may smile or laugh or cry, or so that may learn and grow in their faith or knowledge.
