BlueGrass!
So I went up to Grassvalley this weekend for the annual fathers day weekend Bluegrass Festival. It was AWESOME! Now I know a lot of you will think, bluegrass, isn't that oakie music? Well, yeah some of it is, but not all of it. I would have to say that my favorite band from this weekend was John Reischman and the Jaybirds was my favorite. I caught all of their shows- there were three. Their music is just mellow, kind of like a mixture of country and folk. I just sat there and listened and read, wrote, or closed my eyes and picked out a certain instruance and focused on it (too many years of music classes!) It was awesome though.
My Friday was pretty nice too. I am disappointed that I didn't get to conquer the tree. I need to go back. We had a challenge at our off site meeting. We were to climb a tree on big industrial staples, to a ledge. get on the ledge and jump. I made it about 5 feet from the ledge and stopped. I was too scared to make it all the way. I was shaking so badly, so i jumped off the tree. I hit the tree and then the ground pretty hard but nothing broken yay! Then we had dinner at Chops... Anyone ever been to Chops? I highly recommend the swordfish. It is EXCELLANT! A very pricey place. Thank god it was on the company! I left for grass valley after dinner. It took a me while, but I got there. Cherryholmes was good and the Navy band Country Currents was alright. They were better during their Jam sessions off stage though.
Saturday was made up of going to various shows. The only drawback was the sun. I got a little burnt but it was worth it. I ended up crashing around 2 but got back out to the stage area at 4 with my snow cone to see the Jaybirds... they're awesome! Love them! totally! The night show was good too. Monroe Crossing was really good and the singer was amazing. I wish I could play the fiddle as well as their fiddler too! Hell I wish I could play the fiddle period! Yeah I'm still excited. Then there was the Dale Ann Bradly band... They were good. I mean REALLY good. I saw them three times too, but that one just kinda happened. Papa and I walked around after the show and listened to the jammers. they were awesome. Some of them were actually better than those on stage! :)
Today I went to the shows except for church. I was still sleeping. I stayed until just after five and talked to papa a lot today. Actually all weeked I talked to him a bit. I bought him a new tie-dyed tee and grandma a crystal dragonfly. While I was driving home I was listening to the Jaybirds...
It has been a good weekend. completely relaxing. Didn't think of work or anything! Well I did think of people a little only because he can play a great deal of the instruments but yeah. Oh well. It was still awesome.... I WILL be going back next year. Just depends on what the line is up on how early i go up! :D:D:D:D
