Thank-God it's Friday!!!!

I just got back from a lengthy trip to see the relatives in another state last Monday, so this week has been playing catch-up. I am behind on my blogging, but that isn't as important as catching up on emails. I can't believe that I got 293 emails in my personal email account. It takes me almost 3 hours to read all my emails. Most of it seems to be junk mail. I am currently looking at getting a job or two for some quick Christmas cash...anyone got any ideas. I already have some work at home going on. I might consider writing for a resume service...everyone needs a good resume. Speaking of...I just happened to have a service that is interesting for those of you that are in the market..... affiliatewiz.asp?BannerID=359&AffiliateID=5885&Task=Get

Thanksgiving Day!!!!

I love Thanksgiving. Guess what? It almost is Thanksgiving. It is the day in the year that my entire family stops whatever mischief or work they are doing and converge at one lucky family's house. The toddlers all end up in the floor in the kitchen, tripping the adult ladies fixing the food. The men, of course, somehow, end up in the family room in front of the biggest television we can find with ESPN or some football game on. It makes me wonder if that was what Thanksgiving was like the first year. Were the men resting and telling stories around the fireplace after a day of hunting turkeys or deer in the nearby forest, while the women fixed the biscuits or bread? I know from countless childhood reunions that my family was exactly like that. The men were still cleaning the deer one year in the garage from that week's hunt, and the women were fixing the pies and the breads in the kitchen. Of course, there is a separate refrigerator in the garage, so the men don't have to get tasked with anything unnecessary tasks like running to the store for some brown sugar. It usually has an assortment of beverages handy. A few years, I was actually invited to go hunting, but hunting licenses would be hard to procure. I guess being from an Appalachian family, I saw the side of life that is still farming and basic, while the other side of my family was very urban. We lived in the big city, and we went to the public schools, but we were also exposed to more cultural events. I grew up seeing the symphony at least once a year; art exhibits were necessary for a growing young mind; and of course there was the Historical Society that had all the ancient relics of pioneer life. Life now in the city is so fast paced that I can barely keep up with the latest versions of things. Software at work changes at least once a year; Microsoft has still got me wrapped around their little fingers. Banking is no longer the save your money until you retire; I now have options of spending my money in thousands of different ways even from my computer at home. Transportation seems to change as well. Everything costs money...gas is so expensive that it is cheaper to ride the freakin bus to work. Costs of housing keep going up...I can't afford to live in the nice apartment I originally picked out...the rent keeps going up. So, I am starting to look for creative solutions ...maybe investing some time in a fixer -upper in an area near campus that I could rent out half. Or maybe rideshare in to work. I'd love to work out of Cinci..anyone going my way. Looking back over this past year, I still have a lot to be thankful for in life. I am still alive, breathing air and drinking water that could have been used by the Puritans at their first Thanksgiving celebration. My family is still in touch with everyone...and I think we all are converging Thanksgiving day for the big celebration. I hope everyone else has a happy Turkey Day!!!
