So I have a friend Shawn who is dating a girl Josie of 5 years and they have a kid together.
From what I know of Josie I have seen her at parties show off her boobs all over the place had another guy down her pants and text messages another guy friend of mine telling him she wants him.
Lately she has been reporting to the biggest gossiper of our group that her man (Shawn) is hitting her repeatedly. The gossiper goes and tries to make all her friends hate this guy for hitting his woman.
I have never known Shawn to hit a woman and Josie is actually bigger than he is. Anyway me and Melissa and some other friends went out to the club and Josie lies to Shawn and comes out with us. I was very intoxicated last night and told him where she really went. I got a text message today saying he beat the hell out of her and threatened to kill her and kicked her out of the house last night. I was told I am to blame for ratting her out.
I am in a compromising position between a close friend and a group of friends.
All she has to show for the beating is some bruises (which could have been from anything) and I would believe if it were true and she was using her head she would have gone to the police. I've also seen them get into verbal fights and Josie can be just as nasty as Shawn.
So here is the hard decision - it is my natural instinct to hate woman beaters as I am totally against hitting women - however Shawn is a close friend of mine and I dont know if he does it because I also know women tend to exaggerate - so given there is no hard proof - do I stand up for Shawn and defend him? Or do I follow with the crowd and hate on him? |
