Christine Marie's blog: "Life Changing Experience"

Tonight my husband, kids and I had plans to go to the fair and watch the demolition derby. We got there to find out it was way more expensive than we had thought but had already promised the kids so we paid the $48 and went in. It was supposed to start at 7 so when we got there at 6:57 the seats were pretty full. We went down almost as far as we could and found some ok seats. We watched the first heat, nothing special about that. The second heat a girl got flipped and they turned back over and she went on. Now the 3rd is where something happened that I will never ever forget. It was a heat with minivans and they were just going crazy. All of a sudden I see this guy back up as fast as he could attempting to hit another and the other guy moved. But instead of not hitting anything this guy hit a flag man. The flag man flew up in the air and landed like a rag doll. I'm so thankful that my kids didn't actually see it, they just saw the comotion afterwards. I saw the fireman run to his aide as he lay there lifeless. The paramedics came right behind. My cousin was one of the fireman and she updated me after he was taken from the scene. But before she could tell me anything I saw them surround him with a blue tarp. I thought this was for his privacy and was kinda right, they had to tear off his clothes. I saw the paramedic come out with the defibulator, so I knew his heart wasn't beating at the moment. And then I saw a IV so I knew that they had gotten his heart beating, atleast for the moment. After he left my cousin texted me saying "he is alive un responsive though. Started a IV so it's kinda bad. Lots of blood. Put shock on him. Cut the clothes off.Bad!!!" We later found out that they were transferring him to a better hospital for brain trauma and he didn't survive the ride. Now it took awhile but they did finish that heat, and the guy that had hit him won it. To me it just wasn't the same after that. To be honest i'm not sure if i'm the same after seeing that.
