Freedom

Each time I try to throw away my pain It finds its way back up the drain. I want to go away. Each and Everyday. I look in the mirror I see dead, cold, glaring eyes staring back at me This isnt the way things are suppose to be. I walk away. Its time for a change. I get in my car. For once it not to a bar. As I drive, feel so alone. I dont know where I'm going. Man what am I doing. I turn the curb, and I feel my heart break. Everything is turning colors From Black and gray. To full colors and rays. The sun is shining to my soul. It Feels so good inside. I finally feel free.

Timeless

Come on Thats right Dont fight. Lets go boys. Yeah thats what I'm talking about. I'm on the floor and then im up going out the door. I say goodbye to you Don't expect to see me soon. I'm running through the night. To find me place. Its a steady pace. I want fast. I dont want slow its keeping me low. Yeah I not fearing what behind me thats done and over. I'm flying in the sky out and above. goodbye goodbye . To you. Come boy what taking so long. I'll be old before long. I'm going gray you say im young but I'm Running out of time.

Don't let go.

I see you shining down on me In away I can only understand. I see someone on their knees saying Please help me. You cant let go Until you sure enough That what you have you can hold. Don't let it get old. You can't let go As you on your way I see you cry and cry. Take a look around and just take a try You can't let go Until your sure enough That what you have you can hold Dont blink or your miss you life unfold You can't let go Down across the road theres a river Sometime its can be so wide Look deep inside It running so Fast as it goes and goes Washing away the pain You can't let go Until your sure enough that what you have you can hold Let off the that full load. It wiil feel so good. Don't let go. Don't let go. Don't let go.

You

I stare at the door and all I see isyou walking out the door. I want so much to hold onto you. Im afraid if I blink you wont be there, You say your here to stay. But my heart don't take your words. Except push them away. You get close and all I want to do is push or run. It feels so good, but you cant get near. I fear. If i let my walls down I wont be able to rebuild them. I push to hear the words, but nothing theres. Please don't go. Lock the door. The doornob, deadbold, and the chain. Unlock the locks to my heart. and See whats inside. Ice, Thats melting, but dont want to melt. Trickles of water fall fast as it breaks. Drip drop, drip dropit goes down the drain. I feel the breeze as it heats it up. All I feel is you. Stop what you doing. I hate being weak, hate being scared. Stop What are you doing to me. You make me see. I'm not alone. I fear i'll always be alone. But you chase that thought away. I want to you see you years from now. I want to see you. Just You.

Climbing

I felt like I was at the bottom of the wall I couldnt climb. Felt like I was running out of time. But now I made up my mind It time to go on the road. Be the best I can be. I want to drive to the sea. I feel my heart begin to beat. Faster and faster. It feels so wide. Its so deep inside. Thats where its starts. In my heart. Everything is so by like the wind. Don't stop you'll make it to the top. I look in the mirror I see you in the backseat. Thats not where you should be. Sometimes you don't feel like you belong. If you see, you really have all along. Don't stop for nobody, stay the way you are. Say Y'all, ain't, git-r-done. Smile it will feel real. So much energy will be released. Don't give up, not yet. Try one more time. See that wall its time to climb.

Aromatherapy

An Introduction to Aromatherapy by Brigitte Mars Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential plant oils for healing body, mind and spirit. One of the most ancient methods of aromatherapy was to burn aromatic branches and inhale the smoke. The word perfume is derived from the Latin per fumum, meaning “through smoke.” Essential oils, also known as volatile oils are distilled or pressed from plants. Their fragrance reaches the nose and is taken into the air we breathe and eventually enters into our bloodstream. Humans are said to have an estimated ten million cells for detecting scents. It has been said, “The nose is the gateway to the brain.” Our sense of smell is our most primitive sense and what we smell can affect health and consciousness. Women often prefer floral smells that evoke pleasant memories: gardenia, rose and jasmine. Men are often most responsive to woodsy, citrus and “cooking smells” like cinnamon and ginger. Essential oils repel predator insects and attract beneficial pollinators. Essential oils do not contain pollens, but in some cases can trigger allergenic or sneezing reactions in some sensitive individuals. Scent travels along a neurological pathway, bypassing the blood brain barrier. When essential oils are smelled they can stimulate neurotransmitter production. And have the ability to calm fear, anxiety, stress and insomnia. Essential oils kill germs, bacteria, fungi and viruses but not friendly intestinal flora. Bacteria do not appear to grow resistant to them essential oils. Some essential oils contain phytosterols, substances that are similar to hormones. Essential oils are liposoluble allowing for quick absorption by the skin. Be sure you are using pure essential plant oils and not synthetic fragrances. Synthetic fragrances are often allergenic and though you might not be able to tell the difference, your body will. Quality is imperative. Be suspicious of clear bottles and companies where each essential oil is the same price, as these are most likely fragrances, and not necessarily natural or therapeutic. Essential oils are precious and use many resources to be produced. Use them wisely and with appreciation. Keep them out of the reach of children and away from light and heat. Some oils can stain clothing and damage the finish on furniture. It is best to smell essential oils in a well-ventilated area, as headaches and nausea can result from too much exposure. Keep essential oils away from mucus membranes such as the eyes, mouth and genitals as well as broken skin. Refrigerate citrus oils as they have a shelf life of only about a year. Essential oils of angelica, citrus (including bergamot) petitgrain, and Saint John's wort can cause photosensitivity and increase the risk of sunburn from even moderate sun exposure. Do not ingest essential oils unless properly trained in how to safely use them in such a manner. They are very powerful and if overdone internally can be very toxic. Most essential oils are too strong to use alone. They should be diluted in carrier oil. Look for good quality, cold pressed oils, such as almond, grape seed, and apricot kernel oil because they are light and don't have a strong smell, lending them well for blending. Essential oils can also be diluted in warm water. Lavender and tea tree oils are among the few oils that can be used undiluted, being excellent for burns, insect bites, and cuts. Be sure to use a different pipette when measuring out essential oils. Dipping the same hollow tube into different bottles can cause cross contamination. Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens, P. odorantissimum) is a member of the Geraniaceae (Geranium) Family. It calms anxiety, reduces stress, improves fatigue, and stimulates sensuality. Geranium is antidepressant, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, cell regenerator, and hormonal balancer for men and women. Lavender (Lavendula officinalis) is a member of the Lamiaceae (Mint) Family. Lavender is an antidepressant, decongesting to the respiratory system and antiseptic. It is one of the most versatile of the essential oils. It can be applied directly to prevent bug bites. Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a member of the Lamiaceae (Mint) Family. It is antiseptic, mildly stimulating, and antidepressant. When used diluted on the skin, it has an effect that cools and warms at the same time. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is also a member of the Lamiaceae (Mint) Family. Rosemary is included in massage oils to relax muscles and in hair formulas to stimulate hair growth. Rosemary is antiseptic, and has long been inhaled to improve memory. I taught my kids to smell rosemary oil while studying, and then again, when taking a test to recall information. Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) is antifungal, antiseptic, and antiviral. It is used topically on acne, athlete’s feet, cuts, and bites. It is included in soaps, shampoos against dandruff, deodorants and mouthwash. It is also effective against head lice and combs; brushes can be soaked in a solution of one-pint alcohol with three drops of tea tree oil to help delouse hair care tools. For nail fungus, the affected area is soaked in undiluted tea tree oil twice daily. Take a workshop or read a book on aromatherapy and learn more about this ancient fragrant art. Aromatherapy doesn't have to be complicated. It can be as simple as smelling the flowers. Here are a few ideas of what to do with essential oils. Baths: Add two to eight drops to a hot bath after filling. Compress: Soak a cloth in a clean basin of hot or cold water to which five drops of essential oil have been added. Facial spray: Add one teaspoon of vodka to 1/4 teaspoon essential oil and four ounces of distilled water in a clean spray bottle. Shake and mist the face with eyes and mouth closed. Foot bath: Add five to ten drops essential oil to two gallons very warm water. Steam Inhalations: Place five drops essential oil in a basin of just boiled water. Place a towel over head and pot of water and breathe in the steamy aroma to clear congestion. Massage Oil: To one ounce of your favorite carrier add fifteen drops total of essential oil. Mouth Wash: Add one or two drops of essential oil (peppermint, tea tree) to 1/4-cup water. Use to swish in the mouth before spitting out. Shower: Eight drops maximum of oil can be added to a washcloth and used to scrub the body. Tooth powder: In 4 ounces baking soda and 1 ounce sea salt at 15 drops essential oil (Peppermint or tea tree oil are good choices.)

Herb Tips

The Herbal Encyclopedia Gathering, Storing, and Using your Herbs GATHERING: When gathering or harvesting your herbs, first be absolutely sure you know what you are gathering! This is very important when gathering plants from the wild. Be absolutely certain you know what the plant is before you attempt to use it. If you are not sure of a particular plant, or it "looks like" something but could be something else, leave it alone. You would be better off to purchase the herb through a store or mail order. The alternative may leave you dead. If you care about our natural plants, you will prefer to purchase or grow what you need. Today's herbal needs are creating quite a strain on the numbers of medicinal plants in the wild. Know what part of the plant you need. Some plants are used in their entirety, others only specific parts. When you are gathering plants from the wild, remember not to take all of a particular species you may find in an area. Leave some to grow and seed and flourish for the next time you need them. Removing all of a group of plants is rude, and the Goddess would not be pleased. Give thanks to the plants you take for your uses. Sprinkle around some of their seeds, to help them propogate. Give them an offering, i.e. some natural fertilizer, a prayer, etc. in return for your uses. When taking leaves or branches of a plant, leave plenty for the plant to survive. The parts of the plant above ground should be harvested in the morning, before the heat of the sun has a chance to wilt them. It is preferable to do so when the dew is still on the plants. Leaves should be harvested before the buds and blooms appear, and flowers should be harvested before the fruits and seeds appear. Bark and roots should be harvested in the early spring, just as the plant is beginning to show its leaf buds, or in the fall, just as the leaves are turning. Don't strip bark from around a tree trunk, as this will kill it. Instead, strip bark from small patches, or particular limbs, to preserve the mother plant for later use, and to preserve its life. When using an entire plant, it is customary to hang the plant upside down in a dry area free from pests to allow the plant to dry. Make sure your herbs have dried thoroughly before storing them for further use, or you may discover that you have a moldy mess instead of a medicinal herb. Roots should be carefully washed, scraped, and chopped into small pieces to be sure they dry uniformly and thoroughly. Bulbs are tied together and strung up to dry. The dried portions can then be stored according to your needs. Roots are usually ground into powder for use, or left in small chunks for uses in decoctions, tinctures, and syrups. Leaves are stored in their entirety, or crumbled for use in teas. The same applies for blossoms. Store your herbs in air-tight containers. The best containers to use are colored glass. The herb then does not pick up impurities from plastics, and does not eat through your plastics, as can happen. Store in a dry, cool area, and keep out of the light. This is the reason for using colored glass. Light can often break down the healing properties of your gathered herbs, shortening their shelf life and rendering them nearly useless after a short period of time. If stored properly, the shelf life of dried herbs is approximately one year. Tinctures can be stored for up to two years. Capsules should be used within one year. Once an herb has been ground, it shortens the amount of time the herb is effective. So do pay careful attention to when you have purchased or stored an herb, for maximum effectiveness.
