13 goals of a witch

The 13 Goals of a Witch

The following set of thirteen principles was
adopted by the Council of American Witches, in April, 1974.

1: We practice rites to attune ourselves with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the Moon and the seasonal Quarters and Cross Quarters.

2: We recognize that our intelligence gives us a unique responsibility toward our environment. We seek to live in harmony with Nature, in ecological balance offering fulfillment and consciousness within an evolutionary concept.

3: We acknowledge a depth of power far greater than that apparent to the average person. Because it is far greater than ordinary it is sometimes called supernatural, but we see it as lying within that which is naturally potential to all.

4: We conceive of the Creative Power in the universe as manifesting through polarity ~as masculine and feminine~ and that this same Creative Power lies in all people, and functions through the interaction of the masculine and feminine. We value neither above the other, knowing each to be supportive to each other. We value sex as pleasure, as the symbol and embodiment of life, and as one of the sources of energies used in magickal practice and religious worship.

5: We recognize both outer worlds and inner, or psychological, worlds sometimes known as the Spiritual World, the Collective Unconscious, Inner Planes, etc. ~and we see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal phenomena and magickal exercises. We neglect neither dimension for the other, seeing both as necessary for our fulfillment.

6: We do not recognize any authoritarian hierarchy, but do honor those who teach, respect those who share their greater knowledge and wisdom, and acknowledge those who have courageously given of themselves in leadership.

7: We see religion, magick, and wisdom in living as being united in the way one views the world and lives within it ~a world view and philosophy of life which we identify as Witchcraft~ The Wiccan Way.

8: Calling oneself "Witch" does not make a Witch, but neither does heredity itself, not the collecting of titles, degrees, and initiations. A Witch seeks to control the forces within her/himself that make life possible in order to live wisely and well without harm to others and in harmony with Nature.

9: We believe in the affirmation and fulfillment of life in a continuation of evolution and development of consciousness giving meaning to the Universe we know and our personal role within it.

10: Our only animosity towards Christianity, or towards any other religion or philosophy of life, is to the extent that its institutions have claimed to be "the only way", and have sought to deny freedom to others and to surpressother ways of religious practice and belief.

11: As British {Or World-Wide!} Witches, we are not threatened by debates on the history of the Craft, the origins of various terms, the legitimacy of various aspects of different traditions. We are concerned with our present and our future.

12: We do not accept the concept of absolute evil, nor do we worship any entity known as Satan or the Devil, as defined by the Christian tradition. We do not seek power through the sufferings of others, nor accept that personal benefit can be derived only by denial to another.

13: We believe that we should seek within Nature that which is contributory to our health and well-being.

  1. We practice rites to attune ourselves with the rhythms of life that are marked by the phases of the Moon, the seasonal Quarters and Cross Quarters.
  2. We realize that our intelligence gives us a special responsibility towards our environment. We strive to live in harmony with Nature, to achieve a balance in the fulfillment of our lives.
  3. We acknowledge a power that is greater than that which is apparent to the average person. This power is sometimes labeled "supernatural", but we understand that it lies within that which is a natural potential to all.
  4. We see the Creative Power as a manifestation of the masculine and feminine, and that this same Power lies in all people, and functions through the interaction of the masculine and feminine. We do not value one above the other, knowing that they are supportive to each other. We value sex as pleasure, and the embodiment of life.
  5. We recognize both the outer worlds and the inner psychological world, and realize that the interaction of the two is the basis of magical exercises. We neglect neither of these, seeing both as a necessity for our fulfillment.
  6. We do not recognize any authoritarian hierarchy, but honor those that teach, respect those that share knowledge and wisdom, and acknowledge those who have the courage to lead.
  7. We see religion, wisdom and magic as being united, not only in the way we view the world, but also in the way we live in it. This philosophy of life is identified as "Witchcraft - the Wiccan Way".
  8. Giving oneself the title of "Witch", does not make you a Witch, neither does heredity, nor the collection of titles, degrees or initiations. A Witch seeks to control the forces within him/herself, thus making it possible to live wisely and well, and in harmony with Nature, and not harming others.
  9. We believe in the affirmation and fulfillment of life as a continuation of evolution, as well as the development of consciousness which gives a deeper meaning to the Universe that we know, and an understanding of our personal role within it.
  10. Our only animosity towards Christianity, or any other religion or philosophy of life, is to the extent that they claim to "be the only way", and have thusly sought to deny the freedom of choice by suppressing other ways of religious practice and systems of belief.
  11. As Witches, we are not threatened by debates on the history and origins of the Craft, nor the legitimacy of the various aspects of the traditions that surround Wicca. We are concerned with our present and our future.
  12. We do not accept the idea of absolute evil, nor do we worship the entity known as "Satan" or the "Devil", as defined by the Christian Tradition. We do not seek power through the suffering of others, and therefore do not accept that personal benefit can be derived by denial to another.
  13. We believe that we should seek within Nature that which is contributory to our health and well-being.

The creed of Wicca is based on a reverence for the natural world, and the worship of a God and Goddess as principles which exist in all of nature, rather than as actual beings that exist in an ethereal realm. Wicca is primarily a lunar orientated religion, in which eight seasonal festivals, Sabbats, are celebrated. Wiccans also make use of ritual tools, which include a sacred knife (athame), and a chalice. There is also placed a lot of emphasis on psychic training and the exploration of ones spiritual abilities (path working).

Samhain
(Oct 31)

This holiday is pronounced (sow-en) and is the Pagan New Year. It marks the beginning of the darkest part of the year. This is when the sun God dies, and journeys to the underworld to be reborn again at Yule.
It is the ending of summer, and the beginning of wintertime.
It is also a time when the veils between the worlds of the living and dead, or physical and spiritual are the thinnest, and a time to remember and visit with loved ones who have passed on.
It is also the ending of the agricultural year, the third and final harvest.
It is a celebration of the eternal cycle of reincarnation, of life, death and rebirth, and it reminds us that physical death is not an ending, and it is a time for change and a time to look to the future.

Yule
(Dec21-22)
Winter Solstice

This is the longest night, and the shortest day of the year.
This is when the Sun God is born to the mother Goddess bringing hope and promise of summers return, as the days begin to grow longer and the sun begins to bring warmth and fertility to the land.
It is a celebration of light, giving and rebirth.

Imbolc
(also called Candlmas, Bridids Day
(Feb 2)

This is a time when the Sun God begins to grow, when the seeds in the earth prepare to sprout.
It is a time of hope and inspiration.

Ostara
(Spring Equinox)
March 21

This is the time, when spring returns, it is a celebration of when life begins to burst forth from the earth.
The Sun God rises and reunites with the Goddess, who has returned from the underworld.
Together they encourage growth and abundance. This is the one of the days where day and night are equal in length.

Beltaine
(May Eve)
April 30-May1

This is the celebration of fertility and the renewal of life. When the Goddess in her maiden phase embraces the horned God, and they mate.
A time to rejoice in warm and fertile days.
The arrival of springtime.

Litha
( Midsummer, Summer Solstice)
June 21-22

This is the longest day, and shortest night of the year, when the sun is at its highest point of power, and light triumphs over darkness one last time and begins to give way to the night.
The Sun King prepares for his death, and from this point forward we enter the waning year.
The Goddess is heavy with pregnancy, just as the earth is pregnant with with harvest.
Midsummer rituals focus on nurturing life in both animals and in the ground.

Lughnasadh

This is the time of the first of the 3 harvests, and is the grain harvest.
The Goddess becomes the reaper in her mother phase and the Sun God dies.

Mabon

This is the witches Thankgiving, sometimes considered the final harvest (although fruits are still harvested until Samhain.
It is a time for giving thanks for what we have been provided with throughout the year.
It is also a time when day and night are equal, and perfect balance exists.

my cover story

Several years ago, Dorothy  rescued a loveable boxer after its owners moved away and left the dog behind. She named the dog Lil' Bit but she most often called her 'Big Mama'.

"She was just the sweetest dog," said Dorothy.

Big Mama suffered before she was brought into her home home being left tied to a pole by her previous owners. Soon after they left, Big Mama got her cord tangled around her leg and eventually chewed part of her leg off in order to get free. Dorothy's heart melted and she rescued Big Mama bringing her back to health. After many wonderful years in the her home home, Big Mama was killed on Tuesday, Nov. 29, allegedly the victim of an attack by two pit bulls that live up the hill from her home.

According to the Pit Bull Rescue Central, a non-profit organization that seeks to educate about the nature of pit bulls, there is no evidence to show that pit bulls attack more than other breeds. However due to the report of the attack, the animals were picked up by the Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society the next day.

Ten days later the dogs could be released without further penalties. Dorothy  couldn't understand why the dogs were released and the attack brings into question what exactly are the rules behind the vicious dog laws.

Dorothy , who is a Dyer County resident, is subject to Dyer County's Vicious Dog Policy, which was adopted in May 2008 and is very different than the city of Dyersburg's Vicious Dog Ordinance.

The State Gazette spoke with county attorney Michael Gauldin, who explained that under Tennessee law, municipalities, such as the city of Dyersburg can do anything unless expressly prohibited by state law, while the counties cannot do anything unless they are specifically empowered by the state to do so. This means that while the city of Dyersburg can settle violations of their city dog ordinance through criminal court, Dyer County is unable to do the same because they have not been empowered by the state to do so.

In the city reports of vicious dogs are investigated by the Dyersburg Police Department and their report along with the Humane Society investigative report is sent to the district attorney's office for prosecution. A court date is set and vicious dogs are either euthanized or in certain cases allowed to leave the county.

According to Derrick Avery, supervisor of the Humane Society, in dealing with county cases, the Humane Society is somewhat limited in what it can do if there was not a witness. The Humane Society can pick up the animal, quarantine it for 10 days under Tennessee Department of Health laws to ensure it is up to date on all its vaccinations including rabies shot, and then it has to release the animal.

"We are so effective in the city because we can get a lot done but we are not as effective in the county," said Avery. "But we are working together to be more effective."

Despite repeated attempts to confirm Marshall's side of the story with the Humane Society, Avery refused to confirm the information contained in the investigative report, citing privacy concerns without the authorization of Humane Society President Dr. Carol Feather. Repeated attempts to reach Dr. Feather this week were unsuccessful.

Heaven

so much passion I felt today.

It was heaven each and every way.

The kisses were so soft and sincere.

I seen our love, and I seen it very clear.

It was time and space that stood still.

My how you've shown me this is so real.

Yearning for just one more taste of your kisses.

Just one more touch , a hug anything to be near you.

You are the one to make all my dreams come true

I love you, and the only wish I have is to be near.

Oh baby you've calmed all of my fears

Angel of th Night

I followed my heart to see what I could find.

I tasted your kisses so deep and full of passion.

I felt heaven intertwined as as our bodies became one.

I waited an eternity for this one night.

Just to see if the galaxy would align.

Something I denied for so long. I felt buring deep within.

Giving into temptations, the heavens light show made me choose right.

Moments later I was gasping for air . but I could not sleep.

Body weakened by sheer delight.

Now I know my Angel of the Night.

                                       " BB "

A year ago today I lost my best friend. I miss her more than you could ever know.

She's in heaven through the  gates of gold, A beauty for all to behold.

I sang our song tonight, and I dedicated it to you.

To show the world just how much I miss you.

I sang so loud and so clear.

Once I seen you I sang it , without fear.

NObody's calling so answer your phone.

Then look toward the heavens ,

and see, she'd never leave you alone.

In loving memory of my best friend Beverly King

Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights that shines so bright.

Show me the way, help me tonight.

I see you shining, lighting the way for all to see.

Why can't I see you? Like I use too and feel the calm

and serenity....!!!

Why can't I just let it over take me?

Why is this season such a dread?

Why do I only think of it as dead?

Christmas suppose to be ,"the most wonderful time of year."

A ghost of the past the present and the future.

I walk alone wanting to find a hint of good cheer.

Love me, Dry my tear.

Help me to see the lights that shines for miles and miles and even in space.

Show me that love and caress my face.

~Christmas ~

I want to let go and enjoy the Christmas Spirit.

I want to feel it, aborb me like alcohol.

Yet the grief of losing you engulfs me like fire to a flame.

I feel you as the wind touch's my face.

Your memory consumes me, taking my thoughts to another time and place.

Think its Kind of Rude!

Why is it you rate their photos and when they come to rate you its usually to rate your profile pic.. and that be all but yet we all bust our butts to rate theirs. But we are only worth a profile rating of 11 or a 10.??? What about the rest of our pictures? When usually they are just as good but Only a 10 lol... Confussed

I think its kind of rude they do this, when you have less than 100 pics and they can't take time to rate your pics. ? Shaking my head. Maybe its just me or maybe its not I don't know so why do we take time to rate theirs??  Is  the level that important or is it what we've been trained to do on fu?
