A man in his 40s died while jogging along Chicago's lakefront this afternoon, police said.
The man was found unconscious along the water on the 4700 block of Lake Shore Drive at about 1 p.m., said Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
At that time, temperatures on the lakefront had peaked to 89 degrees, a spokesman for the National Weather Service said.
The man was taken to Provident Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead, O'Brien said.
Neither police nor the Cook County medical examiner's office have released the man's name or possible cause of death.
