When then end has come and all that must be done is finished
when it's all over, and it's time to fly to the freedom of desire
when it's time to let go, but you cling to the familiar routine
when there is a bridge that must be burned, you fear the fire
And like the Jester's of yore
the fool on the hill playing
the clown once more....

I found the clown
saw him in the mirror
early this morning
being the fool
like the pathetic
hopeless jester
going for one more laugh
I found the clown
living in a fantasy
a house of cards
imaginary paper flowers
carpeted the floor
illusions of duty
obligations of honor
I found the clown
what a damn fool
what a failure of love
passing the wrong tests
deaf to the inner jest
running in circles of doubt
clueless to love's shout
