Today I went and picked up a bunch of prints from Costco. OMG, I love the 8x10 hubby and I did the other night. It's the first 'official' couple pic we've done since we got married. Taken by a fabulous photographer.... Me. ;)

I'm sooo pissed right now. I enrolled in Axia College of the University of Phoenix in November. They've fucked up my financial aid. I haven't received a reward letter, but completed my first block of classes on Sunday. Many of the instructors do not take the courses seriously, in fact one actually stated verbally to me that it is a "hobby". What serious school do you know that hires people who think it's a hobby? WTF? They will grade you on requirements never stated but "generally assumed". How is a new student supposed to know what "general academic assumptions" are, unless they are stated somewhere... like the syllabus? I had an instructor post 5 days before a 750 word essay was due (I saw it 2 days prior) that there was a list of topics to choose from. Excuse me? I work for a living and started my essay two weeks ago. The instructor debated the validity of my argument that he should have posted the fucking topics weeks earlier, since UOP is a school for busy professionals! Yes, I'm pissed. I truly doubt I will take my next block of classes because I'm not sure I'm willing to waste my money or my time on this kind of bullshit. The only reason I wanted a degree was because major corporations seem to think people are only worth the paper their name is printed on. Ack! Oh well, self-employment is the only road I ever really enjoyed being on. I need freedom of expression and something I love to fulfill my soul. I love learning, but I can do without a damn degree!

Oh yes, I really did it. I've been debating a short 'do for ages and I finally dove in headfirst and had it chopped off. And colored. I love, love, love it!

How many more of our brave men & women will we lose before the great "Decider", decides to let them come home. I would rather have my friends and family home and safe than fighting some forsaken war on foreign soil...for people who'd sooner piss on our ashes than welcome us. We are not wanted there. Sure the whole government could collapse if we pull out today. However, the likelyhood of the government *ever* being stable enough there is slim. Hell, we could stay there 10 years and lose countless men and women...and still have the "new government" collapse when we finally leave. It will never be over. The middle east has been unstable for thousands of years, what makes the great "Decider" think he can make the difference? My heart goes out to each and every serviceperson and their families. I honor you and the burdens you bear. My hope is that you can soon come home and put those burdens down. May you come home whole and healthy.

You know, I'd really like a raise but... I'm a temp, so little chance of that happening until if/when they hire me. Since I prepare invoices for signing for my little department, I know I'm also the highest paid temp (from my agency) in the office. I make about $5 more an hour. I'm crossing my fingers that the gal that is supposed to start my position (I'm filling in and easing the transition) will be unable to start because of her obligations to her current department. If so, it's a bit of a hoop jumping affair, but I will likely be hired on. Of course, there's this *other* position in the company that's opening up soon and I might just be qualified enough for that one...and it pays better. Heh. And yea, I'm not supposed to know what the other temps make, but *shhh* just don't tell my agency. :P
