I can see it now…We all have heard of extraterrestrials in one form or another. Wow, ever think on how big that word is used for aliens outside our world? Oh well, no matter however if they were flying around say over London they may have encountered…London’s New Space Rangers…oh yes… Four teddy bears, fully decked out in custom-made spacesuits, were launched to the edge of space this week as part of a British university experiment.
Blasting off from Cambridge University's Churchill College on Monday, they were attached to a helium balloon and fitted with multiple cameras, a GPS receiver, flight computer and radio for the two-hour nine-minute flight, which saw them rise 30 kilometers (18.8 miles) above sea level.
The spacesuits were designed by local schoolchildren, as part of a project to engage youths in science and engineering, organized by the Cambridge University Spaceflight student club.
CU Spaceflight said the aim of the experiment was to find out which of the four spacesuits, each designed by a different group of students, best insulated the cuddly toys from the -53 degrees Celsius (-63 degrees Fahrenheit) temperatures. Hmmm I wonder what their Astrobear names were? I did get to see a picture of two of them, however it was unclear if it was an artist’s rendition or not… I bet their Names were quirky like Gizmo, Sir Walter Scott Bear, Teddy Ruxpin, (oh wait that was my pet bear) and Pete… had to have one joker in the bunch…I also wonder wait the dudes or dudettes which we call Martians from time to time…what is the correct term Extra… oh hell no that is way too much to try spelling again even with spell check. I bet the Aliens seen these four bears and thought…”my god!” ( Do they have a god? ) “My…Extra-Alter-Lord”…there! “Ok My oh you know…It looks like the Earthlings lost their battle with the toys, and the toys are now in charge…look at them in their cute little Astro-Teddy Suits…awwww shall we neutralize them?” “Naaaa lets study them, they have to be smarter then their predecessors.”
So we now have Astro-Bears cool…
I wonder which space suit won the prize…no matter.
