I am 50 now and have been working since I was 14 and had never been laid off until I turned 43. Since I turned 43, I have been laid off 3 times from jobs I liked. I am thinking that maybe a JOB, an acronym for Just Over Broke, is not what I should be doing. I was approached by a family friend 5 or 6 years ago about getting into the insurance field and she just contacted me again tonight. I am thinking maybe I should do it this time since I am still relatively young and will have a good 10 to 15 years to build up a decent book of business to supplement my retirement income of social security. Maybe get me to the max in SS I can get between now and my retirement age. What does the fubar community think about this? I was working for her in an administrative capacity until I got laid off in October 2013 and was making 17.00 an hour, but she said the agents make triple what I was making......who wants a pony, LOL
