I've given up.
Many,Many moons ago (going back over 15 + years) I used to work in a warehouse.
I hated that job so when I was let go, I decided to get some sort of skills and enrolled in
a technical school. I learned about networking, pc repair, support and all that.
It's all for naught now.
It's truly a "buyers market". I've been on a few interviews where I KNOW, I can do the job in my sleep, but I get the proverbial "we have a few other applicants, and we'll get back to you". Right, and the check is in the mail/of course i pulled out/wanna buy a bridge in Brooklyn?
Perfect example. Two weeks ago I registered with a company that places you with companies that "hiring". I applied with this agency online, submitted my resume and was scheduled to go down there to meet with a recruiter. Fine. I then had to fill out another application (ummm that's what MY RESUME was for)....but I digress. I was told about the job, what they're looking for and so on. Sounds all well and good and I knew, I could easily do the job. So I goto the interview, clean shaven, a smile on my face, nicely pressed clothes and a folder with my resume/copies of my certs and a good attitude. Yea. I interview with a guy who barely has a command of the English language (guess what kids..he's not from here!) and during the interview, his cell is constantly ringing. We're off to a good start. After going through my resume, he asks me some technical questions....which I believe I answered correctly. The interview ends, I get his bussines
card, shake hands and leave.
I was told to to call the agency for a post interview follow up. I do and was grilled on what was asked, blah blah blah.
I'm told that one recruiter there is on top of the situation, has placed 2 other candidates there and it looks to be a sure thing. Oh, and that he'd be contact with the man I interviewed with and would get back to me.
Guess, what? I heard NOTHING from him...despite numerous calls to his office. He's at lunch or in a meeting...or getting his car washed...etc.
So I called today and I knew the way he answered the phone it was a no go. He started off with "how was your weekend? Do anything fun". I said , "look Jason, I'm unemployed and have no funds...how would you expect my weekend to be"? So what's the deal with the job"? I knew the answer but I wanted to hear it for myself.
"Well ____ (my real name here) they're looking at other applicants, you have the skills...but..words/blah/words/blah/words/blah". At that point , I tuned out . I was nice and said "Well have a wonderful day" and hung up.
I'm at wits end here. I'm literally broke, I can't sleep, I'm short and snappy as of late..and frankly, things don't look good.
So, I've been told *by numerous people*, keep your head up, things will change (and they are...for the worse)....somethings bound to happen. I agree. I see myself getting evicted.
Yay.
When I was younger (again many moons ago), I never suspected life would be like this..but it is. A huge quagmire of crap, and I'm slowly sinking.
