What is fubar? fubar is the first online pub: a place to meet people and hang out with your friends online. Our unique alert system will constantly let you know such things as when your friends are online, when you have received messages, when your friends have updated their photos, etc. Unlike other networking sites, our alert system is constantly updating during your fubar browsing experience without ever having to hit refresh. fubar members will receive the biggest benefits by leaving fubar as an open web browser window even when they are done browsing. fubar members earn fuBucks and Points for interacting on the site which allows you to raise your level and to purchase fun and exciting virtual gifts for family and friends. Every new level you open gives you more functionality and features on the site. 2. How do I change my personal information? Your personal information can be changed by going to your Home Page and clicking on the “My” drop down menu and selecting “profile” on the top left hand side of your page. After you enter your new information, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will be asked to enter a code (Bouncer ID check) and click “submit” in order for your new settings to take place. 3. How can I change my email address and/or password? Email address: Your email can be changed by going to your Home Page and clicking on the “My” drop down menu and selecting “Profile” on the top left hand side of your page. From that page, enter your new email in the field for “signup email”. MAKE SURE you do NOT typo your new address. When you are done, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will be asked to enter a code (Bouncer ID check) and click “submit” in order for your new settings to take place. Make sure you write down your new log in email. Password: Your password can be changed by going to your Home Page and clicking on the “My” drop down menu and selecting “Profile” on the top left hand side of your page. At the bottom of the left column, you will see a link that says “click here to change your password”. Click that and follow the prompts for the change to take place. Please write it down in a safe place. NEVER give out your password to anyone. 4. How do I add color, graphics, & sound to my profile? “Skins” are added to profiles and Lounges in order to create color and special effects. fubar skins are created from CSS coding. fubar will not create these codes for you, but there are several pre-made ones available that work with fubar that can be found at TweakYourPage.com or www.cherrytagz.com. You can also create your OWN original skin by dropping your codes in to the CREATE A SKIN page within your MY SKINS link (http://fubar.com/myskins.php). Skins can also be custom made to suit your color scheme. Music From the “original” homepage, on the bottom, right hand corner, you’ll find your “my trackz” box. At the bottom of that box, select the “see full listing” link. That will take you to your trackz page (http://fubar.com/mytrackz.php). From the “power” homepage, right below the gift box, click the “My Trackz” Tab, which will open up to your current playlist (if you’ve never updated, it will contain the default Slightly Stoopid tracks). On the bottom of that list, you’ll see a red bar, and at the right corner another link that says “My Trackz”. That link will take you to the page where you can update your tracks (http://fubar.com/mytrackz.php). Currently, the search trackz field has been disabled on fubar. But, you can delete and edit the current default tracks from this page, as well as add your own tracks. To add your own tracks, scroll to the bottom where it says “enter new track below”. This requires that you have html code for the music or music video. **fubar does not provide this code for you; you must find your own code.** You can easily find sites that provide these codes using an internet search engine. Once you’ve entered the html code, the artist and track title, hit the “submit” button. This will add it to your playlist, where you can choose to autoplay it or not on your profile. 5. Where do I go for technical support? Please read the entire fubar Bible. Many of your questions will be answered here. If your question is not answered in the fubar Bible, please stop by the “fubar Support Lounge,” our 24 hour technical support chat room run by volunteer members who are standing by to help problem solve any questions. GENERAL HELP: Is fubar free? Yes, fubar is a free site. There are added features that require payment when you wish to upgrade to VIP status, or wish to purchase a Blast or Sticky Bulletin. Your Shoutbox™ is your private chat area—only you can read the messages inside your Shoutbox™. With this feature you can instantly chat with anyone on fubar. You can send someone a shout in three ways: 1) Click on the Shoutbox links throughout fubar (i.e. on a member profile in the upper left hand side, on a bulletin, etc.) or 2) Click on the member’s name when it appears in your Shoutbox™. 3) Use the ‘IM:’ field inside the window that pops up when you preview a profile. When you click on the shout link to chat with another member, a box with their profile stats will pop up. You can start typing as soon as it opens, or you might need to move your cursor inside the text entry field before typing, then hit ENTER to send. When talking to multiple members at once, you can click on their name, and when the box opens up to chat, click the “open shoutbox” link and it will open a separate shoutbox between you and that member. To verify your email, you need to go to your profile edit page located under the 'My' link on the gray header bar under 'Profile' (http://www.fubar.com/profile.php) and click on the verify email link next to your signup email. An email from fubar will be generated to your signup address account (ie-your Yahoo, AOL, Gmail account, etc) where you will be prompted to follow the verification process. If you cannot find the email, please be sure to check in your spam and bulk filters as the email can get trapped in there. If you have trouble entering the token onto the verify email page, please try it through a different browser as some browsers, dependent on your system, do not take the verify token. How do I delete my account? Log into your account and go to your “profile” settings under the “My” drop down menu on the top left side of your homepage. Next, click on the “delete profile” link on the bottom left of your profile settings page. Due to security purposes, we will not delete your account upon request if the request comes from a third party address or user. If you wish to have an account deleted because it contains impersonated photos, you must file a DMCA. Also, if you’re not going to use the site for awhile, but you don’t want to lose all your points/levels/friends etc, just go into your profile settings page, and turn Email Alerts to OFF. What is the online bar? The online bar is the scrolling bar located at the top of every page on fubar. It features fubar members who are online at the moment. If you upload a primary photo, you will show up there as well! What is the mobile address option in my profile? Having a mobile address allows you to send photos from your mobile phone directly to your profile, without a normal computer/internet browser. The photos will immediately appear on your profile, and your friends will receive an alert that you have uploaded a mobile photo. Once you have configured a mobile address, simply send the photo to mobile@fubar.com from your phone! The photo will be available on your profile immediately! If you are having trouble configuring your phone, keep in mind that some phones and phone services are NOT compatible with our system. If you have photos on your mobile that are NSFW (more details on Not Safe For Work content), you can now send them to mobile-nsfw@fubar.com -- which will flag them as NSFW automatically and keep you out of trouble. How do I leave someone a comment? Just click on the LEAVE COMMENT link in the upper left hand of a member’s profile, or scroll to the bottom of their comments on their profile page and type in the comment field. If you’re unable to leave a comment, it is likely that the member has set their comment permissions to friends/fans/family only. Typed and HTML are allowed in the comments, unless the page owner denies HTML styled comments. NSFW and commercial comments are prohibited. How do I send someone a message? Just click on the SEND PRIVATE MESSAGE link in the upper left hand corner of a member’s profile. Or, if the member is a friend or fan, click on the messages link under the fubar logo and select a friend or fan from the drop down menu. What are tooltips? Tooltips are those nifty small boxes of information that appear when you put your mouse over someone’s image or name. The information displayed includes the persons name, photo, location, Rank, rating, direct links to their profile and photo pages as well as quick ways to interact with them! What is the difference between a Friend and a Fan? A Friend must accept your request to become a Friend. A Fan can become a Fan of anyone on the site. fubar has celebrity guests and athletes and they can get overwhelmed with Friend requests so it is easier sometimes just to become a Fan. How do I remove a fan? fubar members are unable to remove fans unless they are blocked from your account by you. How do I search for someone? Members can use our Search feature that is located at the top left hand corner of your home page. When in your inbox, check the white box next to each entry that you wish to delete and hit the “delete” link. Your page will refresh with your current messages. If you receive an alert that says you have 1 unread message, but there appear to be no messages in your inbox, click on the yellow alert and when the tooltip drops down, click into the message through the tooltip. Once on that message, select delete. OR, you can wait for new messages to come in, and once they do, delete all messages which will clear the “1 unread” alert. When you read a bulletin in your bulletin board, there is a button to ‘repost’ the bulletin. Reposting is often necessary because the person who posted the bulletin might not be friends with everyone who you’re friends with so it allows you to ‘repost’ the bulletin in your bulletin board to all YOUR friends. This way, your friends can see it too without you having to cut & paste. A small note is added to the bottom of the post to indicate who reposts it. It costs 10 fuBucks to re-post bulletins. Please do not repost NSFW or commercial materials in the bulletins. How do I delete a bulletin? Click on the “my bulletin board” link at the top of your bulletins on your homepage. Why don’t I get points when people rate and comment on some of my photos? Photos flagged as NSFW will not get any points for ratings and comments. fubar Levels: Levels, Points, and Unlocks: Levels Points Unlock... 0 Freshmeat 0 Up to 50 photos 1 Newfu 250 Being known as Meat =) 2 Fu-ling 500 Set your own online status 3 Grasshopper 1,000 Vote on a MUMM 4 Chill Fu 2,000 Post HTML comments 5 Fu-Fighter 4,000 Create your own MUMMs 6 Twisted Fu 6,500 Rip a photo 7 Wasted Fu 9,000 Up to 70 photos 8 Psycho 14,000 Up to 750 profile ratings 9 Freak 25,000 Up to 6000 friends 10 Friend of fubar 35,000 Create your own lounge 11 Barfly 50,000 Up to 110 photos 12 Regular 75,000 Up to 10,000 friends 13 Bad Fu 100,000 Up to 140 photos 14 Minion 135,000 Up to 25 family members 15 Idol 170,000 Up to 5 MUMMs a day 16 Fu-gee 210,000 Up to 175 photos 17 Pimp 250,000 Up to 1000 photo ratings 18 Assassin 300,000 Up to 1000 profile ratings 19 Ninja 350,000 Up to 225 photos 20 Rock Star 425,000 Bolded nickname 21 Fuberlord 750,000 Up to 1500 profile ratings 22 Henchman 1,500,000 Up to 500 bulletins 23 Insider 2,250,000 Up to 280 photos 24 Fu-king 3,000,000 Up to 290 photos 25 Godfather 6,000,000 Up to 25 Top Friends. 26 Disciple 12,000,000 Up to 310 photos. 27 Prophet 24,000,000 Up to 35 Family members. 28 Oracle 48,000,000 Your own custom gift in the Gift Shop (25 million fuBucks) 29 ??? ??? ??? The PURPLE highlighted names designate the top 10 promoters who have generated the most legitimate referrals in the last 24 hours. To become a Top Promoter, you need to refer and successfully join a higher amount of new users compared to other members. What are fuBucks? As you earn Points, you will also earn fuBucks. Points and fuBucks are basically the same, except that you can spend your fuBucks, which will make the amount decrease as you spend. Points will always accumulate and never decrease. You can use these fuBucks to buy virtual gifts for anyone on fubar! Use them to either flirt, cheer someone up, or just for fun! You will find the fubar Gift Shop link on a member's profile page in the top left section. What is fuPal? fuPal is a new fubar feature that allows users to transfer their fuBuck funds to other users. You may do this because one of your friends is broke and needs to pay their lounge fee, or because you want to help them bid for spotlight! Why you transfer them is up to you. Keep in mind however, that you will be charged a transaction fee of 20% of the amount you transfer. For example, if you transfer 100 fuBucks to someone, your account will be charged a total of 120 fuBucks. Keep this in mind when transferring large amounts. You can access fuPal by going into the fubar Gift Shop and selecting the fuPal option at the top. What is the fubar Gift Shop? The Gift Shop is where you can give FREE viritual drinks, beers, gifts and other items for your friends on fubar. To give a gift, you only need to earn fuBucks which you do just by using the site! What are virtual gifts? A GREAT ice-breaker! A virtual gift can be "purchased" with fuBucks from the fubar Gift Shop. There are a variety of items to choose from and gifts range in price from 100 to 1,000,000 fuBucks. When you browse someone's profile you will see a link at the top left of their page that says, "GIVE A GIFT!". Click on that link and you will be able to buy that person a virtual gift. You can also click on the “Gift” link on the top of your page and choose a friend at the top of the page, or you can click on the "give gift" link in the tooltip when you hover over their thumbnail:
