"What can you do on the internet?", asked one of my customers just a few days ago. I was, of coarse, quick to come back with the "What can't you do on the internet?" answer. Alice, my new (75 years young) customer, is getting her first computer. She HAS NOT been locked away in a box she assured me. But, until her Great Granddaughter, who is moving to Seward, Alaska with her parents, asked her if she would keep in touch with her by email, Alice, never even thought of having a computer for herself. Continuing our little conversation, which happened to last quite a long time, Alice not only discovered that she could NOT ONLY receive pictures of her family over the internet, pay bills over the interent (since she has such a hard time getting out into bad weather), keep up with news in Alaska over the internet, hold voice and video conversations via the internet, shop for groceries, clothing, learn new things, read good books, see new movies, and SO MUCH MORE over the internet, BUT, YES she could ABSOLUTELY have the freedom and pleasure of saving money on postage and hours at her desk writing letters by just sending quick and simple emails to near ALL of her family, including her wonderfully talented 8 year old Great Granddaughter (who is the absolute LIGHT of her life) .......Well to make an almost 4 hour story a little shorter, Alice was in tears that she had not found out about the "miracles" and "blessings" of the internet sooner!!!
So, this little BLOG I dedicate to Alice. May Your Travels Be Joyful!
